Changes

Serina's eyes never wavered from the destructive dragon. Her jaws snapped again and as the others landed, she too landed. It was a smooth landing but the earth shock with the power rolling off her form as it connected with the ground.

She gazed at the female with disgust and anger. As soon as Maelith gave the word, it was all she needed. A rumbling roar left her maw before she lunged forward.

Her body slammed into the others with a resounding crash that resembled thunder. Her jaws instantly going for the other's neck but her front claws where gripping into the scales to keep a hold.

Maelith was caught off guard as she was hauled back away from the flury of white scales by Morty. Her original form returned she huffed at the male who carried her back some distance like a dog with his toy. Another heavy sigh.

The female dragon was down on the ground well before she knew what was happening after all Maelith had her attention for the moment. The moment of surprise only lasted a moment though as she twisted like a serpent and nipped at the fur of the other's main. She aim her claws to rake over the other's body. Her own flesh was bleeding from the claws of the other as well as the teeth that sank against her neck. If she didn't break the hold soon she would likely rip the wounds open even more with her writhing form causing her to bleed to death.

Serina wanted to savor this death. To let the female know her destroyer, but years as a killer taught her, do not be prideful.

The blood on the scales began to make her grip slip and she tried to dig in deeper. She felt the pain of the claws that went across her own body. It broke her hold on the female for a moment before she lunged forward again quickly to strike again. Her grip was slipping again but she held tightly, sinking her claws in where she could.

The other dragon was becomng quite torn up as she tried to get the other off her. It wasn't long before her movements became less and less strong. The loss of blood was making it harder for her to fight back. One of Serina's fangs had pierced an artery in the dragon's neck causing her to bleed out quickly with each pulse of her heart.

Damien could only stare at the mess they were causing but he didn't dare step in. It was for Serina to decide when it the fight was over.

As she felt the movements become less from the female, she released her hold. Blood dripped from her body, some hers some not. Her eyes seem to change colors a moment before she picked the body up from the debris of their destruction.

It was a strange but she carried the female to an opening where it was away from the city and could be disposed of safely once the final breath was taken.

She glared down at the female, watching but she didn't say anything. No words were needed.

The draoness's final breath was a quiet thing. Just the simple exhale that never repeated the process to drawing life giving air back into her lungs.

Damien moved closer to the the other three as Maelith was set on the ground finally. The sounds of humanity behind them just waiting to see what happened.

Serina stood there quietly, the blood soaking the earth around her. The pain would come she knew but she didn't pain attention to it yet.

So few of them in the world and she had just killed another. She shakes her head slightly and looks to the others quietly before speaking. "I do not know the ritual for returning one to the earth." Asking the others for help. She staggered slightly when she moved before catching her balance.

She did not feel pride or justice for the death of the female and it showed in her eyes.

Darien was over to her in a flash of movement catching her, "Transform back into your human form he told her," It would make things easier to tend to her wounds.

Morty stepped away from the other and motioned for them to step back a ways. His one good eye was focused on the dead female. He nosed her form into a coil with the tail being the inner most part. Once done he sat back on his hunches and closed his eyes for a moment. It was a prayer he was saying softly to the spirit of the dragoness. Once done he was back on all fours breathing his own vibrant green flames over the body which caught quickly become a blaze. The scent wasn't horrible as the flame contained most of the odor.

She nods a little at his words, gently nuzzling his neck before she did as he requested. It was painful but she managed to do it. She fell to her knees and sat there.

Her eyes on the fire as Morty tended to the remains of the dragon. She couldn't look away for a moment but stayed close to Damien. Drawing comfort from his presence.

Her wounds had already soaked her clothing in its dark liquid and she shivers a little despite the heat of the flames.

Damien transformed in a matter of moments after Serina instantly he began digging up a little of the soft soil below them and used it to starch the bleeding. The last thing he wanted was to watch her fade away.

Maelith sighed softly as she watched a moment more before the fire vanished leaving nothing but the blackened soil. Morty shook himself out slightly before shifting as did Taelith. They would return to Serina's home to lick their wounds and let the humans have their calm lives back for now.

Serina closed her eyes once the body was gone. She nestled close to Damien and let him work on her wounds. She grimaces from pain as he used the soil to stop the bleeding.

Lisa was waiting for them eagerly. As soon as they arrived she saw the state of everyone and then her daughter. Concern filled her eyes and she nods. "I have everything by the fire." She had gotten everything out and ready for their return and had even gotten food made as well with hot tea as well.

Damien carried Serina over to where her mother had directed and sat with her in his lap wrapped in his arms. He wasn't planning on leaving her side no matter what.

Taelith and Morty vanished into the depths of the forest once again while Maelith found herself in same chair as earlier.

Serina stayed relaxed in Damien's arms as Lisa sat down in front of them. Lisa looked to Damien as she saw how he was holding her and the look in his eyes. "I'm just going to help with her wounds okay?" She said gently. Once she was sure he understood, she started to treat the wounds she could reach without forcing Damien to move at all.

Lisa was worried as most mother's were but she knew that her daughter would be alright, yet still something was troubling her about everything. Just as that thought went through her mind, a phone started to ring. She ignored it for a moment, not wanting to bother with it but it just kept ringing. Sighing, she went over to the thing, about to just shut it off but saw the name. She answers it. "Son? Where are you?"

"Oh mother. You know, you and father were horrible at keeping secrets. Such a shame. Even as a half breed I know that humans should be destroyed. Keep an eye out mother. I'll be stopping by. Want to see how my dear sister is doing. Shall I finish what my aunt started?" A cold laughter sounded before the call ended.

Lisa stood frozen before looking to Maelith and Damien and Serina.

Maelith glared at the phone slightly as it started to ring disrupting her thought of things. Something felt wrong. She sighed and tried to remember something only to open them when she heard Lisa's voice. The look of the woman told her something was horribly wrong. She was up and over to her in a matter of moments, "Hey," She held her hand out to her, "What's wrong?"

Damien's keen ears had caught what was said and seemed to coil around Serina. His body was becoming down right hot to the touch now, "You will not be fighting this one." He told her. There wasn't any questioning him. He would rip her enemies apart.

Lisa shakes her head slightly as she looks to Maelith. "My son...He's coming here...He knows about his father and about his sister." Lisa had paled a little and she looks to Damien then to Maelith. "We have to be prepared....I think he did know his aunt after all..."

Serina forced herself to stay awake as she heard Damien's words. "What's...going on...?" She mutters, she opens her eyes and tenses as she saw the look on her mother's face. She tried to move but was locked in Damien's arms. "What's going on?" She asks again.

He kissed her deeply then let her go, "Stay," He told her gently, "If you don't listen to me and I end up loosing you I will drag your ass back from the dead and make sure you understand just how much I love you."

With that he stood, "Lock the doors and keep inside. Move to the cave it you can," There was something about him it was more than just a fight to him. Maelith was up and out the front door before any one could move, "Mael!"

Serina tried to sit up after he let her go. She watches after him with concern in her eyes. Stay...She couldn't just stay put while he fought. That just wasn't something she could do. Her mother though, had other plans as the woman was at her side instantly, "No, you are in no shape to even stand. Let him handle this."

"I...can't...." She looks at her mother. "What exactly in going on? What are you all not telling me?" She questions.

Outside, it was clear something was approaching, but it wasn't just one thing, it was a group from the sounds of it. A possible hunting group and it's leader, her older brother.

Maelith was fifty yards from the house when she slid to a stop to stare down at the group, "Why?" She demanded as she glared at them, "They are your family!" Her brown eyes were locked on the dark haired male she knew to be Serina's brother. She remembered him from that moment she saw him.

Damien was behind her in a moment in full dragon form. He hissed and growled at the party.

Lisa gazed at her daughter before she spoke. " It's your brother. I don't know why but he...apparently was on your aunt's side....He wants to kill you..."

Serina stared at her mom. "Why would he do that.....That doesn't make sense....he was the one to warn me about everything...."

Lisa nods a little "Because he probably thought you still didn't know anything about your father...."

Serina shakes her head. " I have to get out there. I can't let this happen." But even as she tried to stand again her body refused and her legs collapsed.

Lisa shook her head." Let them handle this. "

Her brother stood with a group of other hunters, all in full gear. He smirked at the female that asked him why. There was something different though about him from the last time. There was a mark on his neck in an ancient language.

"Because they betrayed me."

Maelith stared at the mark then sighed, "You've never experienced it have you?" She began making her way closer, "She told you a little but she never explained why dragons are better," The smile she gave him was soft but clearly on that knew what was on him, "Let me tell you this. You can change but that mark will keep you from ever doing so. They didn't want hunters after you two. Sadly you believe you are the hunter."

The female stood directly in front of him now, "Go ahead. You think you thirst for blood," She motioned to the men, "And that humans are useless, then kill those that follow you as well for they are nothing but human."

Damien's growl of disapproval rumbled through his chest but he stayed where he was. Taelie and Morty lingered in human form not far away. They watched with a careful gaze.
