Conley Brothers

Starnacht looked up at Vlad "I help some too yes?" he asked him, not wanting to just sit there while the twins were working. he could help too!

Camilla took the offered hand and got to her feet but waited for him to talk to the boy first

Vlad nodded. "The twins will show you what needs done."

Tim and Tam were already scurrying toward the wagon, pausing for a brief argument over who got to go in first.

Star nodded and followed quickly after the two others, happy he could be helpful!

Camilla smiled as she watched "you are so good with those boys" she said "they are lucky to have you looking out for them"

The twins finally decided which should go first and piled into the wagon. They turned when Star followed and pointed to the stove. "We hate cleaning that," they said in unison. "If you clean that, we will tidy and wash the floor."

Vlad sighed sadly. "Thank you, but I worry about them. A year I have had Tim and Tam, and yet I still cannot break their stealing habit even when they seem genuinely sorry."

Starnacht nodded and looked over the strange contraption, he had no idea how to clean it so he looked back at them "What clean with? Never done before but happy to"

"Don't be so hard on yourself, teenagers are hard normally and they aren't biologically yours, this habit formed before you came along and habits are tricky to break" she encouraged gently

The twins paused in their excited rummaging then turned to each other. After some silent debate, one of them came to help. "Hot water in the bucket, like this, and this rag, and you rub everything down. First, you scrape out the ashes," they instructed, showing Starnacht how to do everything step by step.

"I know, but it pains me so when they get into trouble," Vlad said, his brow furrowed uncharacteristically. "I fear one day they will take something from the wrong person."

Star was a good student, following their instructions, happy to learn and eager to help out, pull his weight and earn his keep. He wasn't a freeloader!

-

Camilla looked up at him "do they know that it hurts you when they steel?" She asked softly

"I think they know it is disappointing, but I do not think they know how deep it goes." He shrugged. "I would rather they did not. I do not want them to do or not do things just to make me happy or feel like they are being emotionally manipulated but because they understand that it is wrong. I am not certain they have reached that stage yet, though Spectra has set up a sort of reward system for them that seems to be getting good results."

~~

Leon used his elbow to "rap" at Felix's door, He held a heavy brown bag in one hand, a couple of beers in the other, and what looked like a book under one arm.

She nodded a little "well..I am happy to help however I can...perhaps we can work with Spectra too...we all love those boys. You're not alone" she encouraged gently.

--

Felix answered after a moment. He raised a brow "Leon?" He assumed his brother was still upset so was surprised to see him. Especially with alchahol. Of course...they tended to ignore the law. Just so long as they never got caught by an outsider.
He opened the door wid3r for him to come in

"I could not possibly take up more of your time!" Vlad protested. "You are so busy as it is."

~~

Leon raised his hands. "I brought food and the accounts," he said. "I had a good long think, and I realized that this... whatever it is you've been doing, has been going on a long time without me knowing, so what is the difference? Either way, the accounts need balanced, and you need to approve of certain expenses, so I brought food."

"Nonsense Vlad, I'm always looking for excuses to visit you" she admitted "and it's not like it would take extra time, Spectra helps out without taking away from her day doesn't she?" she pointed out

--

Felix raised a brow but let him come in to the table. "Very well then" he agreed "To be clear however, you have no more issues with my continuing on as I have?"

Vlad chuckled. "You do not need to make an excuse to come visit me. You are welcome any time!"

~~

"I didn't say that," Leon pointed out quickly, "I absolutely do not approve, but I can also tell that it would be absolutely pointless to argue. Just keep it away from me and do whatever you feel you must."

Camilla smiled "Well I don't want to be a bother, you're a performer and and a father and you have the unicorns to tend. far more busy than I am"

-

Felix gave a slight nod "That is fair enough" he glanced towards the door a moment "You know where the cups and dishes are, I will be back in a moment" If Leon was not going to argue then he had best take care of the payment before something did happen to Camilla

Vlad waved a hand. "Miss Camilla! I may tend to two - three, now - boys, but you attempt to mother the entire troupe. I would say you have far more on your plate than I, and I will always have time for you."

~~

Leon nodded and moved toward the desk to set up. "Go, go, and hurry back before everything gets cold." He didn't approve. He wouldn't argue because Felix never listened to him once something got into his head, but if anything happened to Camilla because of Felix, then Leon would take his head, himself, and damn the consequences. Still, Felix had gone this long without any trouble. Perhaps there wouldn't be any need for concern.

Camilla smiled "I suppose but...I will still see to it I visit more, I mean I will be having to see that Starnacht is settling and I am owed a unicorn ride I do believe" she said.

--

Felix nodded and slipped out, he needed to do this quickly to spare Camilla any pain, he already had someone in mind

Camilla paused in their walking as they got close "Do... you want to come in for a drink before going back?" she invited, just so long as her brothers didn't notice she let a man into her wagon it would be fine

She was surprised but she lit up that he had accepted. She glanced towards Felix's wagon before she lead the way in.

Inside was was simple but quality. While Felox wouldn't let her wear fancy things outside her wagon. Inside it was nothing but the best of everything. A cabinet with a glass front showed that, displaying nrcklaces bracelets and rings? A few strings of pearls but nothing she had ever worn outside the wagon

The bags from shopping with Leon still sat by the table. "Do you have a preference? I have wine and and a few hard liquors if that's what you like" she offered going to a cabinet where she kept the bottles and glasses.

"A little wine would be lovely if you are willing to share it," Vlad said, following her in. He looked curiously at the display of jewels but said nothing about them. She had never struck him as the type to want such things, but then despite having been a part of the circus for so many years, he'd always kept more or less to himself. A kind figure, always willing to help, but aloof.
