Flames From the Past (1x1)

Monica blinks a little at the suggestion of a roommate. She didn't mind the idea of company but it would be the first time she had ever shared a home with someone since her parents. Made her wonder if she had any bad habits. It was a silly thought and a random one, she pushes it aside as she heard him ask about going to lunch with him and his sister and Molly. She liked Molly and it would be good for her to meet his sister.

"Lunch sounds great." She smiles and was wondering how often it was that Molly liked to pick on Dustin. For some reason she got the feeling that Molly was messing with Dustin some how but it was all play and friendly. That was a strange thing for her to suddenly notice, like the energy in the room was telling her all of this. Once more she pushes her strange thoughts aside, thinking that it was simply her noticing their body language. That had to be it.

It was the words about the demon that brought her out of her head completely. "Why....would you think that? It's been several years...." She didn't like the idea of seeing that creature again. With a lot of effort she pushed down the memory before it could start playing over again in her mind. Shivering a little, she rubs her arms slightly, the scars seeming to shift again.

Dustin leaned back slightly, "Demons like his kind don't tend to like some one fixing what they broke. They tend to be possessive over what they claim as theirs," he ran a hand through his hair, "Well should you have any questions I will be more than willing to answer them."

He glanced then at his pocket watch which sat on the desk, "You have a meeting with the doctor. He should be waiting for you downstairs. I will have him come up if you are ready."

Possessive? So even if she was healed and able to see and walk again, she would still have to look over her shoulder? It made her wonder if being healed was really good for her then. A demon who had killed her parents and was going to be mad for Dustin trying to help her would be after her again? Was it really worth it? Yes it was, she couldn't hide any more. Hiding was for cowards and though she was a book worm and not much of a fighter at all, she wasn't a coward.

She nods at Dustin. "I'm sure I will have questions later but not right now."
She nods again. "Yes, I'm ready for the doctor." She may need to mention the fact that she kept seeing the scars on her wrist move but she still wasn't convinced that she wasn't seeing things either. She could be imaging it.

Dustin hit a button on his phone which rang the good doctor's phone, "Head on up."

The doctor was up a few minutes later. He greeted the group, "You may use that spare room," Dustin told them pointing to the room Monica had stayed in yesterday. Molly yawned as she stretched herself out and stared at Dustin.

Monica nods softly and stands up from the chair. She always hated these appointments but that was before when she always was given bad news. She follows the doctor into the spare room to get the check up over with. Parts of her wished someone was there with her during these things but she was always alone. It was strange, she wasn't so alone anymore it seemed either. She pushes her mind back to focusing. She was so random today it was weird.

The doctor was quick in his check up. He gave her lots of good news to share with the others. He told her that should she need it he would explain things to Dustin.

Meanwhile. Dustin and Molly were looking over possible places for Monica to live in a folder.

She nods softly at the doctor and was so glad for the information. Things were going good, the healing was working and she could see. It made her want to go to the book store and get all those books she been wanting to read. She thanked the doctor and nods again. "It will probably be better if you do the explaining...I'm still knew to the healing...." She says to him and got up to leave the room with the doctor to join Molly and Dustin again.

Dustin glanced up from the binder to look at the doctor and Monica, "All is going well?" He asked softly.

The doctor nodded as he smiled softly, "Everything is going well. Her wrists and her eyes mostly need more attention. As any other burn marks," He explained before heading out the door.

Molly clapped, "Oh how wonderful! Not much to do but watch you get better. Perhaps we should get going so we can check out some of the places before lunch?"

Dustin nodded slightly, "You ready to find a new home, Monica?"

Monica smiled at the words about watching her get better. Part of her wondered if this was a dream still in some way but was so happy for it.

She nods. "That sounds wonderful. " She smiles.

Molly lead the way out with a cheer of happiness. Dustin stood then came around the desk to Monica, "I swear I've hardly ever seen her so cheery to help a human," He shrugged, "I think she just likes having some one who doesn't run away in fear of her."

Monica smiles softly and walks with Dustin as they head out of his office and follow after the excited Molly. "She is wonderful. I know she is strong and powerful but....I don't feel fear around her. Respect for what she is but not fear." She smiles again as she looks to Molly as they catch up. "So I know you two have been browsing some places already?" She was also curious about the mention of a roommate. Who would it be?

Dustin smiled, "Molly is a hot head but it only shows when she is around my family usually. You are the first outside of it that I have seen her act that way around," As they caught up with Molly and Monica asked her question he watched the converstation unfold.

Molly smiled widely at her, "Oh let's say that most of them have been two to three bedroom houses. A town house or two but they just seem too small if you ask me," She gave a shrug.

Monica blinks a bit as Molly described the places that she had looked at for her. "Will I really need that much room?" She asks curiously. It seemed like a silly question for anyone to ask but she had never had a roommate and the small apartment she had been living in had been her own place after her parents. She never thought about space before.

Molly gave a nod, "Room is something you can never have enough of," She smiled softly and looped an arm with Monica's as they walked down the stairs whild Dustin followed simply listening to them chatter on, "But I sense that isn't the only question you have."

Walking at Molly's side, she tilts her head at the thought as she pondered Molly's words about space. "I've never really stretched out I suppose..." She smiles a bit. "Would be nice to have enough space for books...With my eyes getting better...I can actually read all the books I've been wanting to read. I never got the chance. When I was young, I was always reading."

She looks to Molly. "I've never had a roommate...Who will be my roommate? I don't exactly know what to expect to be honest." Then she looks ahead of them as she thought again of the demon that they are saying would be hunting for her now. She really hoped that it was only precaution and not an actual threat.

Molly tilted her head, "You should come to my place sometime in the future. I have a large library that you are welcome to look through anytime you want. I'm sure if I'm not there Emma would let you in." She opened the door so Monica could get into the passenger side front seat. Dustin got into the back behind her. Molly drove as usual, "Your roommate? You have met him so no need to worry. Let's just say that he and I have a pact."

A large library? That had her dreaming for sure. She may get lost in the books. How she had missed reading so much. "That will be wonderful." She says and smiles. Getting into the car, she sat down and put her seat belt on. She had learned it was a good idea with the female. She didn't fear her getting into a wreck but more that the seat belt helped with the turns.

She blinks a bit when Molly said she had already met the roommate and it was a man. "I have?" She asks curiously as she looks to Molly. Then she wondered about the pact that she spoke of.

Molly patted Monica's leg, "Don't think much on it now. It will all come together later," She smiled as she turned the car on then headed out to look at the first place metioned. It was on the east end of town too far to simply walk but still close enough to shopping areas. The house was simple with a pool and three bedrooms and two baths.

She was going to have to wait to find out. Now her mind was full of more questions but she was quiet about them. She trusted Molly and Dustin though and knew that they would tell her what she needed to know.

The first place seemed really nice and she didn't mind the pool or the two bathrooms. She supposed if she was going to have a male roommate it would be a good idea. It was defiantly on the maybe list but she wasn't sure about the price of it.

Dustin frowned at her, "The price is little of your concern, Monica," He states, "If you want the place simply say so."

Molly nodded in agreement as she headed to the car, "On to the next one!" She chimed.
