Flames From the Past (1x1)

Her eyes widen at the sight of the place. It was amazing and nothing like she had seen before. She had always been in the city and never saw such sights before. It was breath taking to her.

As they reached the place and he stopped the car, it took her a moment to realize that. She got out of the car after a moment and was still looking around in awe. "Wow...." was all she could say and it wasn't about the size of the house or the house at all but the nature that surrounded it.

Smiling at her reaction he titled his head, "You seem rather surprised," He lead the way to the house. The door was unlocked which didn't seem to bother him any as he stepped inside the cool interior of the cabin. A single set of shades had been left open while all others were closed. The sunlight that poured into the room landed on a wooden floor decorated with a indian style rug. On the rug lazed a large black cat the size of a puma. It stretched then rolled over onto its back. It's chest had a white diamond patch on it. It's large green eyes stared at the pair. A tail swished... Was that a shadow or did the cat have two tails?

Rolling over onto its belly it became clear that it infact had two tails. It gave a soft meow that came out more like a purring roar sound due to its size, "Kiki," Dustin greeted softly as he moved deeper into the room. He patted the large cat on its head. Snapping his fingers the other shades in the room flew open to let in more light. He then stood, "Monica this is Kiki. Kiki, Monica."

Dustin spoke to the beast as if it had complete understanding of the human language. It in fact could understand English.

Following close behind him she was still staring at the beautiful land. "Never been out of the city before." She says by way of explanation.

As they entered his cabin, the interior was beautiful to her. She jumped a little though when she saw movement over on the floor. Her eyes widen as she saw the large cat.

What kind of cat was that? It was huge and two tails? It was amazing to her but she was still wary of the large creature.

As Dustin introduced the two of them, she manages to nod and give a small smile. "Hi..."

Kiki stretched gave a yawn then wondered over to Monica and bumped her large head against the woman's thigh. She was appearantly happy to be around the other, "She's a good judge of people," Dustin commented, "She's a Sithe. A fairy sort of cat. She can bring bad luck or good luck depending on if she likes you or not. She also happens to be quite terrifying in a good way."

Motioning around them he smiled, "Make yourself at home. If you have any questions just ask Kiki. She knows the house better than I do now."

Monica blinks a bit and stayed very still as the cat brushed into her. It was clear the woman had very limited experiences outside of the city as well as with animals in general.

She does manage to relax a bit though, she trusted Dustin and the beautiful creature had been nice so far to her.

Nodding to Dustin. "Thank you..." she says smiling again then she wonders over to a couch so she could sit down. Her scars had begun to itch again and she rubbed at them, biting her lip a little.

Dustin moved over to the large hearth as he did he threw a few logs on the iron grate before reaching for the match book. Stiking the match he tossed it in. Instately the logs caught. A face stared out of the flames, "Igneous," He greeted the demon who huffed at the angel, "I have need to ask you what you plan for that woman and why."

Monica closed her eyes, she could hear Damien talking but she kept her eyes closed. She didn't want to go look, didn't want to see that creature again. A tremble ran down her spine.

Rubbing at her wrists again, she kept her eyes shut but that did little good as she started to remember that night anyways. Her parents. Her father hadn't run from the danger, no he had gone towards it ,to save her mom.

Her parents were normal to her. Never had they done anything strange, at least she hadn't thought them strange. They always encouraged her seeing things and telling them about it. How she could sense things. Energy.

The demon huffed, "It was a long time ago. It thought it odd when I felt you erasing my energy from her."

"She doesn't need to be punished for this any longer," Dustin stated.

The demon nodded slightly, "Alright. She's yours to handle then. I'll withdraw my claim. It's grown boring with fewer of her sort about any way."

Dustin nodded then waved the demon to be gone. He vanished from the flames. The flames returning to just being flames, "Done."

She opens her eyes as she heard him say done. That simple? Was it really that easy.

The itching from her scars left her and she relaxed. She looked to Dustin. " So it's okay now...he's done with me?" She asks carefully.

He gave a nod, "There is always a catch. This catch isn't too hard for us to deal with. I'm to be your keeper. In other words anything that you do that would harm, insult and so forth I'm responsible for. Not that it bothers me any. I doubt you will be much trouble. He did that to you to keep you under control. If you can't see you can't harm."

She blinks a bit in confusion. "What do you mean?" She didn't understand how seeing the creatures as she did as a child would cause such trouble.

Then she tenses slightly. "He killed my parents just because I could see things....." she mutters then shakes her head again, trying to understand. She wanted to understand. She didn't want to become trouble for anyone.

Dustin put his hands up, "You would have to ask him about all of that," He states, "He may have had a reason for doing as he did. I'm not defending him simply stating you need to be aware of the things going on and why. After all this is your crash course in others, remember?"

The large cat bumped her head into Monica's leg again as if saying he's right.

Monica nodded quietly after a moment. Part of her now wishing she never knew what she did now. She looks to Kiki a little. As harsh as the words were to hear, she knew he was right.

Closing her eyes a moment before opening them again. "What now then...you both spoke of controlling me...all I can do is see others...right?"

The male plopped into a chair, "I don't know if all you can do is see," he told her, "Only you can figure that out. There are tells of a few of your sort being overtly powerful. They act as magnets to lesser fae and those that have to borrow magic from their neighbors in order to preform magic themselves," Running a hand through his hair he hummed softly.

She nods a little. There was something she hadn't been telling him, or anyone for that matter. It wasn't something she had done since she was a child. Biting her lip, she glances to Kiki and then looked back at him.

"I havent....been completely honest with you.....there is something else I can do....it's hard to explain and better if I show you..." she moves to her feet.

She wondered if she could even still do it at all but he wanted her to be honest with him.

Moving her hands carefully around her, it seemed as if nothing was happening for a few moments and then the room started to warm. Energy began to form in the image of powerful light, it coiled down her arms to collect in her hands.

She held it there for several long moments before releasing it. It faded quietly from sight and the temperature in the room returned to normal.

Dustin tilted his head to the side slightly as he watched the desplay. There were indeed things that needed to be explained he justified silently to himself. The very action she preformed was something only others could do normally. Very rarely could a human. It was likely due to her being decendent from someone of fae orgins. It was the only logical explination he could think of. And from the Court of Light likely.

"I will need to look into your past realtives," He informed her gently, "I suspect your are part something else as that isn't a human ability."

Kiki purred at the warmth. Sithe loved warm places just as a few different types of fae. It was possible the reaction of the demon to the child was one that likely was sanctioned and justified under some situation... Dustin thought carefully about this.

She nods a little at him. "My father had a family tree book but it went up in the fire." Moving back to the couch ,she sat down, gently petting Kiki as she did.

"That's.....the first time I've done that since I was a child...I never showed my parents I could do it. Just some of the little others that would visit me in my room."

She looks down a little then shakes her head. "I can heal too...or destroy with it. If I think of it, it happens...." she says.

Dustin sighed softly, "Hell's bells," He muttered then stretched, "We will have to work on getting you to control that power. It's similar to my own so I can guess as two which court your family belonged to originally."

Kiki purred as she rubbed against the hand that petted her head. She was enjoying being pampered.

She nods a bit at his words. "I usually just never used it...." she looks to him. "I'm sorry for not telling you about it sooner....I know I should have but...I didn't even tell my parents about it....." she shakes her head and continues petting Kiki. The animal was calming to her.

"I wasn't sure I could even do it still until now.." she adds.

He shrugged slightly, "I see better as to why you could be a danger to many fae around you without ever realizing it," The male stood and wondered over to a cabinet. Opening it he reached inside to pull out a small box. Making his way back over to her he held the box out to her, "Lame as it might seem but till you can completely control that power of yours you should wear this."

Inside the tiny box was a bracelet of silver and gold wires twisted and braided tightly. The clasp was of the locking veriaty that used a pin to hold it closed. On the clasp was a very dark sapphire surrounded by two offset squares so they formed a star.
