How Green Becomes Wood

"Is turning into a wolf any less magical?" Daizi teased.

"I think if I am a vampire, I don't need to care about ethics," Dark replied, "And vampires still have a heart, but I do not think the physiology of the heart is necessary to feel love. As for the sunlight," He waved a hand casually, "Dracula could move under the sunlight, he just could not use all of his powers. And if not, that is what parasols are for."

"See my answer for turning into bats," Alec replied.

"Uh-huh, it'll be that easy," Xander nodded. "So. While you and Mama are running around being evil vampires and sorceresses, what are us kids going to do?"

"We'll look after Ivy and tell her all the stories," Alec replied.

"A magic pop star or maybe a mythical bard!" Alec said happily.

"A regular person living a regular life," Xander said, as the one person in the room who was not yet old enough to be able to enjoy whimsy, magic, and fantasy.

"Uncle Cooger lives a normal life," Alec pointed out.

"There you go," Xander nodded.

"He is also only connected via one line - brotherhood - as opposed to multiple lines like you."

Xander rolled his eyes. "Bet I still could."

"Awesome! AN extra dog!" Alec cheered.

"Does he know he's a werewolf?" Xander asked in amusement.

Alec paused and frowned. "What would Lex think of having a dog? And is he the type that can change whenever, or the type who only changes once a month?"

"He knows," Dark nodded, "Although he may prefer being a werecat."

Daizi considered this question carefully before saying, "If I'm a sorceress, I'd make him a charm which would allow him to control when he transforms. Otherwise, at the full moon."

"He's definitely a werewolf. I cannot see him being a werecat," Alec agreed. "As much as he might want otherwise. He's a dog that adores cats and protects them!"

"That'd be handy for him," Xander sighed, feeling himself slowly giving into the madness.

"Nope. You're a cat named Goose," Alec said cheerfully.

"This is so weird," Xander said, shaking his head.

Alec glanced at Dark. "We still haven't figured out what Xander is, and if he won't pick for himself..."

"I already told him he could be Lurch if we got him a pair of stilts," Dark shrugged, the faintest glimmer reappearing in his eyes.

"If he weren't so handsome I'd say he could be the Headless Horseman," Daizi considered, "But I like him better alive."

"Thank you, Mama, I think," Xander said blandly. "You think I'm not horrible, but Ba does. And, Ba, Lurch is a singular person, not a species like a werewolf."

"He's got a point," Alec said.

"No I do not," Dark said.

"Lurch has a family," Daizi raised a finger, "But it's hard to pick for you because your brother didn't pick anything too extreme. It's tricky to balance. What do you think, Hummingbird? What would Xander be?"

"He likes to be aloof, watch things, and remain primarily stoic. He's also on the grumpy side and dresses in monochrome, and it's usually black, which is just really dark grey," Alec said cheerfully. "Oh, and he's a protector."

"Perfect," Daizi grinned, "What do you think, Ivy? Is Xander a gargoyle?"

Ivy giggled and flapped her hands, just excited by all the talk going on around her. Dark kissed the top of her head and then said, "I think she agrees. I guess it means you will have to go and sit on the roof, Xander."
