How Green Becomes Wood

"That's dangerous," Jack chuckled, "but thank you. I'm sure nothing will happen."

"No, probably not, but this is the first time he'll be alone this long, and, yes, I know, he's 'practically' an adult, and he needs to learn these things before he leaves for college, but the 'what ifs' hound me," Sally admitted.

"I understand," Daizi assured them, "I'm sure we'd both feel stressed out we were away for so long," staying silent, Dark doubted this, at least as far as the twins went. Ivy was a different story, because she hadn't lived on the streets like her brothers had, "Let us know if there's anything else we can do, okay?"

"We haven't spoken about it much yet," Daizi admitted, "We just finished up the twin's birthday, so we were fairly well focused on that. I'm sure now we'll take the time to talk to the twins about it."

"Alec will not want to go anywhere, he has his kitten now," Dark pointed out.

"Unless he sneaks his kitten along with you," Jack pointed out with a grin. "Peter did that once with a frog."

Sally groaned and rubbed her face. "Oh, heavens, that bloody frog."

"That would be fun! I wouldn't mind going on a trip again, it would definitely need to be somewhere we drive to, though, because I am not ready to put Ivy on a flight, even a short one seems rather stressful."

"I already do not like flying. I am not frightened of it, but it is not physically comfortable." Dark said, and then, thinking about it for a moment or two added, "It is worse on short-haul flights, almost, because the planes are so much smaller."

"You all order what you would like, I am sure I will be satisfied with whatever I decide, and if not, I know two red heads who will gladly have the rest." Dark assured them.

"I think you'll find you have a wife who will have it for breakfast."

Sally glanced between them, amused. "Who will win, I wonder? The wife, or the teens?"

"I know in our house, if the teen gets it first, he must suffer the wrath of the wife," Jack said. He caught the eye of the waitress and indicated they wanted to order desserts.

"I deserve to win," Daizi grinned, "He's known me longer."

Dark thought about it for a little while and then reasoned, "I will have one dessert, or less than one dessert. I have two teenagers but one wife. The math seems clear it would go to Daizi. Or maybe I will snub them all and give it to my daughter, she is small and it will not be an entire dessert."

"I think that would count as favoritism, darling."

"She is very small," Dark nodded.

"I didn't go through eight months of pregnancy for her to get your leftover desserts instead of me," Daizi complained.

"To be fair, during those eight months I did not get your leftovers anymore," Dark pointed out.

"Wow, that is not something you get to complain about!" Daizi laughed but Dark held up one hand.

"I am not complaining, rohi, I am only saying we experience changes in habits and experiences."
