"You have to get, like, a bedazzled chain for your phone or something," Sloan teased, stepping just far enough enside to have to touch the salt but not enough to need to remove her shoes, "That vest suits you really well."
"Thanks! It's really comfortable. I have thought of a beaded strap, but not really a bedazzled one," Alec said, kneeling down to look under the furniture. Kiki took it as an opportunity to get on his back.
Xander walked in and held up the lost phone. "Lose something? Hey, Sloan."
"Yay! Thank you!" Alec cried. He tried to straighten slowly and encourage Kiki to get off without scaring her.
"I figure Xander could make the strap and you could decorate it," Sloan shrugged, peering around, "Or you could just call it. Google has a thing that'll make it ring even if it's on silent."
"Should look into that for you," Xander said. He moved Kiki so Alec could stand up and handed him his phone. "Have fun, see you later. I gotta get some work done."
"Bye!" Alec cheered. He pocketed his phone with great care. "Bye, Mama and Ba! Be back later!"
Dark and Daizi called their goodbyes while Ivy made a disgruntled noise, very much disliking that word, but Sloan was already heading out after saying all requisite niceties. As she walked to the car she asked, "Have you thought much about what colours you want?"
"I was thinking about yellow, but I'm not sure how that would look on my skin tone. I don't know if it would look cheery, or like I have scurvy or something," Alec grinned. He slid into the car and buckled up. "Maybe a nice bright blue instead. How about you?"
"You could maybe do a gold? It probably depends on the shade," Sloan theorized, trying to imagine what might look good on him as a very angry, not at all school-appropriate song played over her speakers, "My leotard this meet is emerald and silver, so probably a green with some sparkles."
"It'd be fun to match, but I think Xander would be jealous," She teased, knowing Xander absolutely would not be, "Us two, matching! Without him! And not to mention poor Peter!"
Alec laughed at that. "True, true. Peter would especially be devastated! And Xander would be totally peeved." He knew Xander wouldn't care at all. "You're right. I should stick with something else. Maybe the gold... How about blue and gold?
"I really like blue and gold," Sloan said, "I once asked to paint my bathroom that scheme, but my mother said no because all of our fixtures im that bathroom are silver, and she refused to replace them, which is fair enough I guess."
"That is fair," Alec agreed. He gave SLoan a sly look. "Although, I happen to know of some very good paint that can cover metal. It would not be too difficult to change silver to gold, especially if you age it just a little."
"I guess so, but somehow I think my mom is more strict than a landlord could ever be." Sloan sighed, "I haven't been able to repaint my room since I was like... 12. And it was hard to convince her to redo it at 12, because she let me at like... 7."
"That is pretty rough," Alec said sympathetically. He thought of how Dark and Daizi would let him redo his room whenever he wanted. So different! "Well, someday, you'll have your own place, and you'll get to do whatever you want!"
"I'm looking forward to that, although I don't know if I'll even know what to do with it! I'm not used to so much creative control. Maybe I'll go wild and my house will look like an alien designed it."
"Hmm... This is big, like, hugely-massively big... but I want a bathroom that's a wet room, and for the whole bathroom to have like a waterfall theme, but no fish. Fish weird me out. They're always staring and never blinking." He shuddered.
