"Right, then," Noah said, rubbing his hands together. "Shelving things by color and checking for water. I can do that."
"Excellent," Tristan said with a smile as three young men came in nervously. "I'll leave you to that. If you have any questions, or if you receive any questions you cannot answer, send them to me. Alec, if you could please make a few more of the Huckleberry Magics, and then try your hand at something in the red family, and then in the yellow family."
"Yes, sir!" Alec said eagerly and hurried into the back to create more bouquets. This was great! He was being trusted to "invent" new arrangements!
Tristan stayed near the register, keeping an eye on things in general throughout the day, constantly going back to check on Alec and get supplies. Alec spent most of his time in the back making bouquets (new and standard), prepping flowers, and bringing anything Tristan needed to the front. Noah quietly went about doing most of the menial tasks Alec was normally tasked with like keeping the flower buckets filled, sweeping up the never-ending flow of petals and leaves, and answering whatever simple questions he could while always keeping a close eye on everyone that walked by or entered the shop. It was not an arrangement Tristan loved, but it was a necessary thing, and Noah seemed genuinely happy to have some kind of work. He'd not yet been able to find a job since being cleared by his doctor, and while he'd never have thought he'd end up in a flower shop, it was a nice place. Plus, him taking over most of Alec's tasks in the front released Alec to do a lot more bouquet building and experimenting. Everyone seemed to be winning.
