How Green Becomes Wood

"Daizi would believe you owe her even less than you owe me," Dark said to nobody while her watched Ciara go inside. Of all of the women he knew, she was definitely the most capable of defending herself, but he still needed to make sure. Then, he took a deep breath, and thinking of happier things turned homewards.

Ciara was happy to get out of her costume and let her hair down. It had been moderately fun to dress up, a childishly enjoyable event, but now it was time to go back to reality. She preferred reality. Soon, she was in her most comfortable nightgown and fluffy robe, resting quietly in her living room with a cup of tea and a British cooking show.

At home, the twins were up and waiting for Dark, though Alec had dozed off and was leaning against Xander as he snoozed. Xander was reading a book, though he kept rereading the same few paragraphs.

When Dark returned home, Daizi was also waiting up for him. She was unable to recall an evening where he was out without her that she hadn't stayed up to make sure he came home safe, or at least tried to stay up. She had one earbud in and was listening to an audiobook, dressed simply in one of his shirts, her pajama shorts, and a pair of ridiculous fuzzy socks. Ivy, of course, had long since gone to bed.

Entering quietly, Dark slipped out of his shoes and touched the salt, heading right to the living room where he guessed, by the smell of incense, he would find his wife.

"What are you both doing up?" Dark asked, pulling the coffee table aside as he entered the room, "You have school tomorrow, it is late."

"Welcome home, Goose," Daizi smiled up at him, switching off her audiobook and setting it aside.
