Dark watched Alec, who did, admittedly, remind him a bit of himself. He was more dreamlike, and more willing to hope, but the way this girl had fully knocked Alec to the floor...? Daizi had done that to him. She still did that to him. Most high school relationships didn't last, Dark knew, and technically, technically, his hadn't. They were broken up for five miserable years before they got together, and he did think they wouldn't have worked had they not had those years apart... But she still was his highschool sweetheart, was she not? He was reclining on their couch with their little girl sleeping on his chest and currently dreading how it was destroying her precious sleep schedule. So Dark just couldn't bring himself to give that warning to look before leaping.
And anyway, he first needed to coolly remind Alec, "It depends on your father," To him, there was nothing worse. It was a mercy Alec didn't harbor that same unshakable fear, "but I suppose you do sound a tiny bit like me."
