How Green Becomes Wood

"For me it's like... Spores. I get this mental image of mushrooms growing in my lungs if I breathe near a living fungus," Claire admitted a bit sheepishly, "How does she make it advantageous for her?"

"If she already likes you, just be yourself," Sloan advised him, "It sounds like really stupid, basic advice, but I'm being for real. She likes you, so be you."

Xander considered this fact and nodded. "Makes sense. She has me lift rocks so that she can find all the bugs underneath, and she likes to show me the various insects she's found throughout the day. Ba's not hugely happy since he once found her pockets stuffed with worms."

"I'll do my best," Alec promised. He smiled to himself giddily. She really liked him! He hurried down the aisle to catch up to Xander and Claire.

Laughing, Claire said, "Kids are so weird."

Sloan followed after Alec, and once they arrived there Claire turned and then exclaimed, "Oh no, my pick is also blue! I hope it's not the same one!"

"If it is, I think I'll have to choose it," Sloan replied, "The twenty minutes is probably up now, though."

"Mines' blue, too," Xander remarked, holding up enough fabric to reveal a purpley-blue sheen. "Looks like it's a blue day."

"I thought you weren't allowed anymore," Alec said suspiciously.

"I can still offer, can't I?" Xander said with a sniff.

"Xander, your dress first," Alec said, hoping to get the worst over first.

"Okay," Xander said and handed Sloan his dress choice. It was the best dress he'd picked out so far, but that wasn't saying much. It was a light chiffon fabric, and very, very red, and very flowy. The massive sleeves could be removed, worn up, or worn off the shoulder, and the full-length skirt had a slit that was not immediately apparent.
