How Green Becomes Wood

"I think we challenge each other and help make each other more well-rounded people," Sloan shrugged, "I mean, our house would have an absurd number of protein-based items but I think we'd both be really high achievers together."

Xander considered this opinion for a moment before shrugging and nodding. "All right. You've got a point there. We could have a pretty power-couple dynamic. But what would your mother say?"

"You could always elope," Alec grinned while Rumy laughed.

"Well, there's a problem right there, because I have zero interest in converting," Xander drawled.

Rumy snickered. "Right, well, while you two hash out your first fight as a couple, I'm going to get going. See you later!"

"Bye, Rumy! Have fun with dehydrators!" Alec called, waving happily.

Sloan said goodbye to Rumy, then turned back to Xander, "And I don't want kids, so you'll be fine. Just go to Passover, you'll be fine. Between your family and mine, we'd solve geopolitical conflicts."

"All right, then. When you get out of college, look me up, and we'll get a marriage of convenience," Xander said, offering his hand. "Marrying the wrong fellow has to be better in your mother's eyes than marrying no one at all, and I like you company."

Alec glanced at Claire. "So romantic," he said dryly, trying not to smile. "It's like a Rom-Com come to life."

"I think we're done," Alec said with a shrug. "We did what we came here to do, so unless we want to just hang, we're done!" He glanced at Claire. "I'm sure we could come up with some things to do for a while, though."

Xander resisted the urge to roll his eyes.
