How Green Becomes Wood

"She is charming," Dark agreed, placing his hand on the small of Daizi's back. It might have seemed a defensive, protective gesture, although he really was just letting her know where he was.

After the stranger was gone, Daizi said, "He really came on strong."

"Did he?" Dark asked, walking with her.

"Mhm, he called me an angel, that he'll always treasure the memory of dancing with me, he talked about my physical beauty..."

"I feel that should send me spiraling into a jealous rage," Dark commented.

"I'd be flattered if it would," She teased, "I think if we were in an open-marriage, and I told him so, he would've done anything to take me home."

As the night went on, there was a brief speech thanking everyone for coming out, and telling them what their donated money went to. After the applause, the band struck up again, and there was a nice variety of fast and slow songs. A couple of people approached Daizi for a dance, and one timid request for Dark to dance, but no one was quite as bold as the man who'd danced with Daizi the first time. The only real issue was when one drunk man tried to get Daizi to dance with him, loudly and annoyingly, but his friends were quick to come over and try to apologize while shuffling him away and out. Other than that, everyone was very polite, and even complimented Dark and Daizi on their costumes.
