How Green Becomes Wood

"There is time," He said, holding Ivy in one arm and hugging Alec tightly in the other, maybe a bit more tightly than he usually would. Then, releasing his son, he walked over to Daizi but before he could offer to help, she handed him his cup and in no uncertain terms told him to go sit down. Only then did he turn to Xander to say, "I could lift you easily, like holding a grape."

Alec smiled and closed his eyes briefly as he hugged Dark back, feeling the extra tightness, which translated to extra love in his mind. He let Dark go and waved to Ivy as he went to go sit.

"Right, sure, I bet you could," Xander drawled. "While also holding that grape?" He indicated Ivy.

"If you can lift us so easily, then why is it a trick? It could just be us teasing you and your old age," Alec pointed out.

Xander shook his head. "Nah, there will be no tricking of the fathers on Father's day. That's just rude."

"You can be doing two things simultaneously." Dark reminded them, "I know you love to tease me for being old, and you have fooled me before, because you both know I can be stubborn and competitive. Unfortunately, it means there have been occasions where I have been goaded into an action I would not otherwise undertake."

Both twins paused and turned back to stare at their father.

"Okay..." Xander said slowly.

"That sounds like a lovely day," Alec agreed, looking a bit puzzled but happy. "What did you have in mind? The park?"

"It is Father's Day, and I am only a father because I have children," He pointed out, "what I would like to do is anything which will make you all happy, since you all are why I get to celebrate today at all."

"You make it very difficult to celebrate you," Alec said in amusement. "Alright. Since it's a nice day and we should go out, I vote we go out to a nice, easy walking trail and stroll about in nature and enjoy ourselves. Xander?"

"Fine with me," Xander called back. "But I vote park and swings. Mini?"

Finally setting Dark's breakfast down for him, Daizi chimed into the conversation, "Ivy always chooses the swings. She loves the playground."

"I believe there are parks which have both a playground and walking trails, so we can easily do both," Dark told them.
