Land Down Under (KJDarKnight & Treasure)

"Does that mean you will leave when she is well?" He asked curiously before he heard the knock.

"Come in" Misty called, guessing it was Gray who had come back from wherever he had gone

Badru did not have an answer for that. He had no plans. He was waiting to see what was to happen to him as a stranger here in this strange land, but he would not be surprised if the answer was yes, he was to leave. He did not look forward to it, nor did he dread it. It was merely a thing to happen.

Gray walked in and smiled, saluting them as he moved out of the way. "Guests!" he signed before gesturing for the two to come in.

Misty forced a smile, not particularly in the mood to be social anymore, feeling quite discouraged after Mathias translated what he said last about her needing him. So he did just see her as week then? She didn't fully comprehend he was struggling too. They needed each other.

"Quefo!" Mathias grinned. The boy smiled back "good see you talk again!" He said excitedly. Mathias chuckled "would be better if they let me out of here already" he mused

Badru eyed the two Top Dwellers for a moment then dismissed them. They were no threat, nor were they particularly interesting. They were what and who they were. Fellow survivors who had a place to return to. Maybe he would be forced to leave with them.

Gray's smile faded when he saw Misty's expression. Trying to be casual, he moved around and sat on the end of her bed. "You look sad," he signed. "What is wrong?"

Misty shook her head "It's nothing. Just tired I think that's all" she said softly thpigh she wasn't great at masking her emotions. She was feeling depressed and rather alone despite all the people in her room.

She didn't pay much attention to Mathias and Quefo talking nor did she notice when the woman spoke to Bardu "do you have a home to go back to?" She asked him

Gray raised his brows at her, his disbelief obvious. "Clearly," he signed. He touched her knee gently. "It is okay. You have been through a lot. It is no wonder you are mixed in feelings."

Badru looked at the woman, a little surprised she was speaking to him. "No," he replied simply. "There is no one left. Not even me."

Misty tried to smile a little "I'm fine Gray really. You don't need to worry about me. You've got others who need you"

She frowned a little "I am sorry you lost your home and people" she looked at her son "we lost many. They took out home" she sighed "you are welcome to join our clan if you choose" she offered, she hated to see him sent out to be alone "they may welcome you here too. You are not lost. You survived and are strong"

"You need me right now, so here I am. Your smile is terrible," Gray told her then gently poked her knee, making a face at her.

"Thank you. I do not think I will go yet. That one needs looked after," Badru said, indicating Misty with a quick glance. "That one needs watched." He indicated Gray quickly. Gray smelled of shadows. Shadows were dangerous.

She smiled a little more but still ached inside "oh sure just insult me then" she joked lightly "but really I am alright. Just a lot to process you know?"

She glanced over at the two "you do not think she is safe here?" She asked "these are her people"

Gray sighed soundlessly. "Alright, but know if you want me, I'm only a radio call away. Do you want me to kick everyone out and let you rest?"

"They believe that. She does not," Badru pointed out. "She will be alone by her own making and will not heal right."

She shook her head "it's alright. Let them visit. I don't want to get in the way of that"

She tilted her head and glanced at Misty "I'm not sure I understand your meaning"

"You are absolutely terrible at looking after yourself. No wonder Badru decided to act as your bodyguard. I would not be surprised to find he is trying to protect you from yourself," Gray said, rolling his eyes. "I need to go to work soon, though, and I think the nurse said you can go home tomorrow. Are you going to take him with you?"

Badru thought over his words with great care before trying to express himself. "There are people in the room, but she is not connecting herself to any of them," he said. "They are friends, but they are busy. And that one... I do not trust." Another glance at Gray.

"You'd think I'd be better at it. Been on my own long enough" she said. Not denying she didn't take care of herself too well. "If je wants to come that's alright with me...but I don't know that he will want to whence I am healed" she sighed

She looked over at Misty again "why not trust him?" She asked "he seems kind to mr but you are more aware of emotion I think"

Gray shrugged. "If I can be forgiven for making assumptions about people... I don't think he knows where he is going, either, or what he wants to do. That may be why he wants to stay and look after you so badly. You give him something to do other than sit in a corner and think about whatever happened to him in that cage. Those are just my assumptions, of course."

"He is not right," Badru stated in a tone that said he would not expound further on the subject. If she and Quefo were leaving, anyway, there was no reason for them to worry about this strange shadow-man. They should return home and be happy. Badru would stay at least for now. After that? He did not know, and he did not waste time thinking about it. Thinking about things opened the doors in his mind. Doors that he kept firmly shut.

Misty looked over at Badru a moment. Maybe he was right. She supposed time would tell though and it wasn't as though she could ask him herself yet. "Thank you Gray...you're a good friend" she said looking back at him

The woman did not press about it further "if you decide to come. We travel towards the sun to find a new home. You are welcome" he had a place to go if he chose to leave here

"I only return what is given, my friend," Gray told her with a warm smile. "I need to go now, but I will return when I can."

Badru dipped his head. "I thank you for your invitation. Perhaps I will follow you. You and your son will soon leave?"

She smiled a little back "alright...I'll see you later then" she said, glad he had come by today. It was good to see him and not just hear the taps.

"Soon yes. Whem Mathias is well. He is good friend to us" she said glancing over at him

Gray patted her knee then gave the others a cheerful wave goodbye. He hurried out then headed toward the edge of the city. It was a long walk, but once he was out of the building, he didn't bother to hurry. He followed the shadows, content to cling to the darker alleyways rather than walk in the brightly lit paths. It was good to see people, but it would be good to be alone in his shack again. Besides, Lynna had mentioned dropping by to see Misty soon. She'd pick up where Gray left off.

Badru grunted. There was not much else to say to that. He settled down, watching Quefo talk to Mathias.

As he got closer to the outskirts of the city he saw Peter, likely on his way to find him. Pepper hadn't said he was coming by so that either meant she was just working late and he had no place to go or, something was wrong. He didn't seem to notice Gray yet

Gray tipped his head curiously when he spotted Peter. Why would Peter be out this way at this time? He moved into the light and sped up to tap on Peter's shoulder. He stepped back to not crowd Peter and smiled in greeting.
