Land Down Under (KJDarKnight & Treasure)

"Sit on his left" Misty answered, that would leave room for the girls on either side to keep the injured men warm.

Misty made sure Jonah was situated before she settled beside him, flinching again at the thunder.

Lynna sat in close on the outside, willing herself to think warm. "How long do you think this storm will last?" she asked as darkness crept over them. It was dark enough she wouldn't need her goggles soon.

"Three days" Misty answered "that's what Gray said and what it looked like to me too...if he sent a rescue party it won't get to us until then..that is if he got my last message" she was scared but was doing her best not to show it. She fully expected them to be dragged out and eaten one by one . "Lets just...try and sleep" Mathias cut in

"At least we'll have water to drink during that time," Lynna said softly. No food, but maybe, if they were lucky, their captors would want to fatten them up.

Mathias smiled a bit. Good way to look on the bright side. He shifted a little to put his arm around her shoulders to help share warmth "lets try to sleep" wasn't much else they could do after all.

Misty huddled against Jonah's side, careful of his cuts though.

It was a few hours before there was any noise besides the rain and thunder. The jackets were doing a pretty good job of keeping them mostly dry.

The cage door creaking open was what woke Misty but she barely had time to process that when fingers wrapped around her ankle and jerked. She screamed and tried to hold on to Jonah

Jonah woke with a jolt of pain and a sharp curse. It took him a second to realize what was happening, and he grabbed Misty's arms, pulling back hard. He probably bruised her arms, but it was better than the alternative.
"What?" Lynna gasped as she woke. "What's going on?" Instinctively, she kicked as hard as she could at the door and the blur within it.

The top dweller wearing his bone mask made a sort of shrieking sound in annoyance and swung a sort of rough club at Lynna to knock her out of the way while still keeping a firm grip on Misty's leg

Lynna's hand came up, and she caught the club. Both hands wrapped around the club, and she yanked as hard as she could then instantly reversed the move to slam the butt of the club back at the top dweller. With luck, the top dweller would be focused on trying to pull the club back from her and wouldn't be prepared for her shoving it back at him as hard as she could.

It worked, she hit it square in the jaw, cracking the bone mask. He hissed i angel and released Misty and came directly in after Lynna instead, easily twice as big as her and had to stoop a bit inside the cage. He growled more like an animal

"Come at me, you giant creep!" Lynna yelled, skipping back and to the side to get him away from the others. She still had hold of the club, and she wrenched it one way then the other while running backward. If she could just get it free of his grip! And stay out of his reach.

The top dweller didn't release but jerked hard back and to the side to pull it away from her.

Heart still pounding with adrenaline Misty grabbed the stick Jonah had bit down on earlier then jumped onto the top dwellers back, using the stick to press against its neck and pull back holding either side of it, ignoring the searing pain in her shoulder as she tried to choke it.

The top dweller let go of the club and grabbed at Misty's arms instead to pull her off even as it stumbled backward. "Lynna get the rifle!" The cage door was open, if she was quick she could slip out and get to the supplies

Lynna flipped the club over and swung it hard at the top dweller's knee. She felt it connect but had no idea what kind of damage she'd done. Hopefully she'd broken its knee. She ran through the open door and dived at the pile of supplies. Rifle, rifle, where was it??

The top dweller dropped to one side, still being chocked by misty too. It managed to grab misty by her already injured shoulder which loosened her grip as she cried out in pain. He tipped her off of him. Enraged he pulled off his mask and bit down into Misty's shoulder by the neck

Rifle! Fumbling it around, Lynna spun around on one knee in time to see the creature bite Misty. Her heart froze. NO! The gun came up, and she shot at the creature. The rifle barked out, a bright flare in the dark rain.

The creature froze for a second before it collapsed half on top of Misty. A hole in the back of its skull. The gunfire was masked by thunder. They had that going for them anyway. Maybe nobody would have noticed

Lynna scrambled back into the cage, shaking so hard she could barely manage a straight line. "Misty! Misty, talk to me!" she gasped, reaching out for her friend.

"I..I'm ok" Misty stammered trying to shove the bow dead top dweller off of her. "Get my pack" While they had a chance they needed to do something "get my knife and free the other top dwellers" maybe with them they could stand a fighting chance

Lynn swallowed down the desire to vomit and gestured to the body on the ground. "What do we do with... that?"

"If we move it out, they'll know something's up," Jonah raped painfully. "If we put him in a corner, maybe they'll think he's elsewhere and buy us some time and the element of surprise."

Misty managed to wriggle out from under it, grimacing in pain but pushing through it.

"Hurry Lynna get some supplies and cut the top dwellers loose while we have time" misty tried to ignore the throbbing pain as she worked to shove the dead thing into the other corner. How were they so big!

Lynn nodded. She ran back to the pile and grabbed the knife first before heading to the other cage. She could barely see in the rain, and the wind threatened to blow her off course. She found the bird cage first. She hesitated then cut off the ties to let them out. Whether or not they left the cage was up to them, and broken wings and tied beaks and all, this was still a better chance for them than being locked in a cage.
The top dwellers' cage was a few strides away. Hastily, she sliced open the door and flung it open. Now back to the supplies. Hopefully, the other dwellers would follow, but right now she had to get everything into the cage and with Misty!

Meanwhile, Jonah had stood and was awkwardly trying to help Misty shift the body. It was slow going in their conditions, but it was better than Misty doing it by herself.
