She smiled faintly "that's a nice thought but I don't know if that would work" that and the surface kind of scared her too. She liked it here. In the engine room
Thats when something exploded and everything went dark again. So much foe that patch. "Fuck" she grabbed the radio "Gray? Can you hear me?!" She hoped this line hadn't been knocked out
Gray took a deep breath then opened the box, closed his eyes, and pulled the switch. Instantly, the alarm began screaming, red lights lighting up as the temporary generators kicked on. They lit the way to the emergancy exits, but they would not last more than maybe an hour.
Badru crossed his arms. "They not trust me. I stay and see you out."
Pepper sighed "stubborn aren't you...fine then come on" she said glancing at the test of her crew "get out of here! Get your families out. Help who you can" she ordered them before leading Badru off to help her make sure the generators kept going
Gray sprinted off. He had a lot to do, but one thing trumped everything else. He had to look after Faelar and Justira. He was responsible for them! He ran all the way to his house, gasping for breath by the time he arrived. He banged on the door then jerked it open.
Badru literally picked up one man who was hesitating and put him down near the lift. "Run!" After that, no one argued or hesitated.
Justira and Faelar were standing in the room, Faelar covering his ears. It was meant to be loud, to wake people up and get them moving. Naturally there was panic and confusion.
Misty scrambled to throw a few things in her bag, not sure exactly what was going on either but she knew the alarm meant an evacuation. The surface was the last place she wanted to be
Gray watched long enough to make certain they were going the right way then dashed up to his work shack. He gathered every machine and battery he could carry in a large duffel bag. Then he was down the ladder and running into town. Misty first, then he had to get to the council building to ensure communicationswere running.
Misty in true Misty nature was getting pushed to the side as people tried to be the first out. Humans could be such dicks. Years didn't change everything.
Misty jumped when he grabbed and pulled her aside but relaxed soon as she saw him "where did..nevermind..what's going on Gray?" She asked, clearly scared and worried
Gray signed carefully and slowly. "The engines are failing. There are no lights. There is no air filter. If we are going to live, we have to leave. Do you know where Mathias lives? He has a faster way out, but we cannot tell everyone."
There was a blockage in the flow of people just a few feet ahead. Gray looked away from Misty long enough to see what was going on. A group of people in white robes stood in a circle, their eyes focused on the ground, their hands stretched downward. They appeared to be chanting something, but he couldn't hear what they were saying with the murmur of the mob.
Misty nodded, she looked more pale than normal and her hands were clammy "yes I know where he lives" she noticed the blockage too which just made her heart race faster in her chest "Lynna and Jonah..I need to find them"
