Land Down Under (KJDarKnight & Treasure)

He shook his head "they sent me to follow Mathias. Find out your dirty secret" he stepped back before he quickly climbed up the ladder and slammed the hatch back down

Lynna stared at the door. "That doesn't sound good."

Jonah looked at Mathias. "Remind me again why keeping this place a secret was such a good idea?"

"So people wouldn't come raid it in a panic at the start and then we just never told anyone..too busy helping others to build our own shelters.." he sighed "I have a hunch we're about to be forced out. Everyone pack a bag. Quickly. Just in case."

"Great, I was just getting comfortable here," Lynna grumbled, scrambling to do as she was told.

Gray touched Justira's arm and quickly explained what was going on. For himself, he'd never gotten around to unpacking. He still had everything in a single large pack.

Justira shook her head and signed "I have nothing to collect. How can I help?"

Misty didn't bother with the weather tech stuff but packed q bag with her personal items and tied the box to it too.

Pepper hurried and helped Peter pack a bag and packed one for herself.

"Put them in here" Mathias opened up a secret door near the hatch before he went to go pack his own bag

"Collect as much food as you can carry. We may need it, and try to find something to protect yourself," Gray signed.

Lynna grabbed up her bag and shoved everything she could fit into it, trying to rapidly prioritize. Then she pulled her spike-studded boots back on then slid on a tight, brown leather jacket. It didn't breathe, but it was good protection.

Jonah shoved his few belongings into a sack then turned to help Misty. This wasn't going to be fun.

Badru didn't have any belongings other than the clothes he was wearing and a staff he'd carved from a heavy tree. He went to Pepper and Peter and helped.

Justira nodded and went quickly to the kitchen and packed as much as she could.

Seemed just as they got everything into the secret room and closed up, the hatch opened again "come on out!" Someone called down.

Mathias glanced back at the others before he went up first...

Outside a collection of townspeople had come, the leaders of desolation and guards mostly

Badru followed Mathias with Jonah behind him, the pair of them acting as a sheild for the others. Well, Badru acted as a sheild. Jonah was back up.

Lynna went up without hesitation, but Gray stopped and hesitated. It was still fairly light outside despite how late it was getting. Too light. How was he going to be able to handle this?

Justira touched his arm to get his attention "hold my hand up there..I will be your eyes" she signed. Not much of a choice at this point.

Misty climbed up and stayed close to Jonah, she felt safe with him.

Pepper and Peter stuck close to Badru and Mathias

Gray nodded and took her hand. Taking a deep breath, he closed his eyes, and stepped forward. He felt the light. It was warm, but it also felt... strange. Almost burning. He tensed, not liking the feeling, but it was faint. He kept going step by step.

"Look," someone in the crowd hissed. "They brought that thing up, too!"

Pepper frowned and stepped protectivly in front of Gray and Justira "what the hell is that supposed to mean?"

Justira couldn't hear what they said but didn't like the way they looked at Gray, she held his hand tight. She knew that look, both hatred and fear. "Gray...we might have to run." She whispered just for him to hear

The man shifted uneasily but still managed to give Pepper a beligerant look. "Exactly what I said, you hypocritical coward. You lot are hiding down there and harboring dangerous creatures while we're up here starving and shivering our way through every second of every day!"

The weather was not actually that bad or even that cold, but the way some of the others nodded and glared, one would think he was accusing them of locking them out in a blizzard.

"Dangerous creatures? Are you a fu.." she stopped as Mathias caught her arm.

"Look. We stayed there because we've been to busy helping you lot to build our own places. Just as cold down there as it is up here" Mathias said trying to reason.

"You shut up" one of the leaders snapped "you lot have been giving a lot of orders and living in a bunker. Running water and all I'm sure"

"It's Mathias' house!" Lynna snapped back. "I think he should get to choose who lives there, don't you? Unless you don't want him making those kinds of decisions, either, or decisions that keep you all alive."

"We don't need him to keep going!" called out one fellow. "We can manage just fine without him or those weird Top Dwellers! How do you know he's not just fattening us all up to feed us to the Top Dwellers and the creature?"

"Ate you all mad?" Pepper spoke up again "Badru Justira and Faelar have been helping all of you learn to survive!" Pepper was livid with these people. Accusing them of this nonsense

"Pepper please" Mathias said trying to keep everyone calm "Lynna.." he added.

"Look we don't want any trouble. We've just been trying to help. Nobody was stopping you from calling the shots"

"I think you've all done enough. You're upsetting the balance and he is right. We can't trust these top dwellers or any of you conspiring with them" the leader spoke up again

"Balance? What balance?" Lynna scoffed. "We've all just been trying to stay alive! Nothing more than that."

"By keeping secrets and harboring deadly creatures?" the chatty man challenged. "And consorting with that wall of a man there? How many of you are in his harem that he has you so wrapped around his finger? Nah, nah, that's not right. Not him. No..." He smirked. "You are all under orders from someone else, aren't you?"

"You are making no sense and should stop talking," Jonah said calmly as if to a drunk man.

"No. You all stop talking. It's time you left desolation. So fond of your top dwellers go on and live like them" the leader said "we don't need your sort here in desolation"

Mathias stared "what..are you banishing us? All we've done is help.."

"You heard me Mathias. You your friends and top dwellers leave. Don't come back. Do and we'll have an exacution"

Lynna snorted. "Oh, yeah, you are all soooo much better than the Top Dwellers. You just scream propriety and honor. It sends shivers down my spine!"

Gray edged forward, trying to follow Lynna's voice, still clinging to Justira's hand, and found Lynna's sleeve. He gave a sharp tug. That was enough.

Lynna glanced at him and scowled. "Fine, fine, but I'm right."

"You sure you want to be getting rid of your main source of food?" Jonah asked calmly, nodding to indicate Badru. Badru still brought in twice as much as anyone else when he went foraging.

"My decision is final" the man stated firmly

"Fine...fine we'll go. Just let us geab a few supplies.." Mathias said. There were more of them and clearly though would not see reason.

"No. You go just as you are" the man smirked

"Your mother is a rat and father is a blind fish!" Lynna spat out the worst insult she could think of. "You'll all suffer withotut us. You'll see! But we won't come back! Not even if you beg!"

Gray hung a little heavier on Justira, trying to remain calm. He was feeling... scattered. It was getting harder to focus.

"Yeah, yeah, now get out of here before your bloodsucker bites the dust," the man scoffed.
