Alavin - Dining Hall
Grinning at the newcomer, Alavin toasted him briefly with his rice ball. "I managed to acquire an unfortunate taste for fancy canapes serving them to rich sponsors."
The newcomer seemed to be older, and by the way he carried himself and the way he spoke, he had been around the block a few times. Alavin grinned at his luck. The other girl who came over with him was much quieter. She didn’t seem as comfortable joining their little clump of small talk and awkward interactions. But she had come over with the man, so she must be in a higher grade as well. Alavin gave her a gentle smile as Elise stuttered her way through. She was doing very well making the most of this awkward situation.
Alavin listened to the new man attempt put her at ease while procuring another glass of water. What excellent flattery. Spotting a plate of bugs across the table, he leaned over to pick it up. He brought it up in front of eyes to survey the assortment of beetles and small winged creatures filling the plate with curiosity. Intriguing. They didn't seem to be struggling with catering for all the different races. He wondered if they had some Verdant forest cake anywhere.
He placed the plate and cup of water in front of the Elise.
He nodded in agreement with the newcomer. "He is right-your jacket really complements your colouring."
Leaning forward slightly to see past Elise to the somewhat more awkward boy next to her, he gestured towards a bucket further down the table. "Would you be kind enough to grab a long straw for Elise, Borderman?"
