Stahlhiem College of Magic

"Oh-ho-ho! Pish posh my fair beast master. Sanity is for the weak! Why without the voices in my head, constant back and forth from reality and constant threat of a FIERY AND PAINFUL DEMISE BY MY OWN HANDS!!!!....I won't be as powerful or as popular as I am today!" Said the clearly unstable fire mage.

"...So. How do classes work in this school? Most of us have different specialisations; I don't think we'll be going to the same classes. Are we just assigned to the various teachers and taught with other students in the same school of magic?"

"I find that offensive somehow..." Jagton said to the fire mage.

"Steven I agree with you, but where do we go?" Asking both the mage and Steven.

"Oh all in due time my children, all in due time~ For now finish the unburnt remains of what you call food, and follow the green woman with the baby. For now I have to pprrrepare my classroom to impress this years new batch." Said Rilker, before the man swipes an apple from the table and leaves.

"Karma let's go to class," Jagton said with a smile while reaching for 2 apples. He gave one to Karma and ate the other. While walking towards the lady he started talking to Karma again.

Not seeing the lady the fire mage was talking about Jagton and Karma walked to a near hallway before stopping at the entrance.

"Now we both need to be on our best behavior. Understand?" Jagton asked Karma. The female griffin gave a nod and held back her excitement while waiting.

Borghild sat at the master's table, barely eating whatever food is on her plate. The woman is clearly exhausted and has a lot on her mind right now. Every once in a while she tries to take a bite of the raw meats and fresh fruit on her plate, but covers her mouth as she nearly throats up. She looks down at her belly and gently pats it with her third arm.

"Come on baby, this is good for us. Mommy needs to eat so she can focus in class today ok?" Said Borghild and she tries to take another bite, but struggles to keep it down. She sighs. "Not even born yet and already a handful."

Mikida eventually wakes up, though not quite on her own terms. Between the hunger, the light flooding into the room, and the loud noises of the goblins unskillfully attempting to break into the very supplies they had delivered, Mikida was unpleasantly awoken. Fortunately for the goblins, her temperament was better than usual, and she simply yelled at them, "I'm sorry, it isn't like I'm trying to sleep right next to you. Please continue to make a racket as I remind myself that violence isn't the answer."

Of course, Mikida couldn't have known that the goblins were trying to steal from her, nor did she know that those were her school supplies, but she would learn of neither before drudging her half asleep body towards the dining area. Hopefully she would arrive in time to grab something to eat, but Mikida assured herself that even if she missed a meal it wouldn't be the end of the world.

After several attempts to finish her meal, the Wastelander finally gave up and she stood up before stretching to get rid of some exhaustion. A fat man and balding man who sat next to her noticed the Death Mage getting up and looked to her barely touched plate.

"Are you...sure you wish to get up now Ms. Wijk? You have barely eaten as it is." Said the mage

"I'll be fine Heinrich. You should very well know that I am not one to be tardy, not am do I encourage it." Replied Borghild

"But it has barely even the start of the hour. Sit my dear woman sit! Eat more, you're not eating for yourself anymore you know." Heinrich stood up and got Borghild to sit down. "Come now, eat, eat. Look at you, you're wasting away!"

"It's very much fine Heinrich. I must get to my classroom. I thank you for your concern, but I really must go." Said the Wastelander and she heads over towards the hallways. On the way she notices Steven looking rather lost and greets the student. "Hello my student. Are you lost? You seem directionless at the moment."

As Mikida left the dorm, she is greeted by a Verdantkin wearing extravagant clothing, who looks rather distraught, but is keeping a calm demeanor. The man is escorted by a hooded masked Verdantkin with two sheathed swords. The man walks up to the girl, and addresses her in a stern manner. "You. You're part of the first year class here at this accursed school are you not?"

"Ma'am, I fell through the ceiling into here when I tried finding the library, and am pretty sure I hallucinated the journey here. Is there really a Voice chained to the Heart of the Earth beneath the school?"

Mikida looks towards the Verdantkin with her staple sleepy look. Although a normal person would be intimidated, Mikida didn't seem particularly flustered by the display. Instead, she seemed completely disinterested in the man, giving a half-hearted answer, "I'm kinda hungry. If you want to talk, could you at least walk with me?" Mikida walks past the man without even stopping to address him properly. However, she does look back to admire the quality of the swords the two men were brandishing. Giving a small nod of satisfaction, she continues on her merry way.

Borghild was rather dumbfounded. She's been at this school for little over 15 years and nothing she has seen or done had prepared her for Steven's question.

"I'm...pretty sure that there isn't a Voice or heart or...something. Are you ok? Do you want to go to the infirmary?"

---

The man grabs her by her wrist, hard enough to physically hurt her. "I asked you a question. Answer, or suffer the consequences." Said that Verdantkin and his escort places his hands on the hilt of his swords.

Mikida sighs, then faces the man, "Sorry, I haven't really learned my manners yet. You see, since coming into this school, I sort of realized that if a fight breaks out, there is never too long to wait for a guard. So if I were to yell something like, 'help, I'm being sexually assaulted by a man', there usually isn't anything good that happens for the person on the other side, especially when they notice the bruises you've left on my arm. I get that you are in a hurry, but I think it might be a good idea to think more about your circumstances." Mikida continues to walk forward, even though she effectively doesn't move anywhere due to the man's hold on her. "I don't mind answering your questions, I just wanted to walk around a bit. This school is really pretty. You should come with me. The food here is also pretty good."

"Hmm... If that was an illusion, then I believe it has already run out of power unless it is feeding off my energy somehow. If that is the case, then it is likely I am still hallucinating, and the imaginary infirmary probably won't help. I think I will be fine, thank you. Is there a map of the school we can use?"

Ella felt revitalized after breakfast. After Rilker's reinforcement, she felt a surge of confidence. Hmm. Everyone wanted to know about classes, but the thought of adventuring around halls and into unknown towers held a fascination and sense of wonder for her that exploring her father's factory had given her in the loneliness of her moments. She wanted to know all the secrets these walls held.

As Ella daydreamed about the possible wonders and artifacts snooping around the college might reveal, she remembered goblins and Miki.

"I bet those goblins are going to try and mess with sleepy girl's things while she snores the day away. Is she even a mage? Whatever, not important," Ella shook the tangential thought away like dust from a broom, "we should go check on her and get back whatever those little cleptos stole. Come on Rahvi. Let's grab the others and make sure she's still got her stuff."

The man sieved with anger as he grabbed the girl pinned her against the wall.

"<Listen here you disrespectful wench! I am Amhas of House Rando and I shall not be treated as some common peasant twice in one day!>" He spoke through his teeth. "Now listen here is listen well, if you don't do exactly as I say, I'm going to make sure you are unable to return to Verdanthome in one piece ever again!>"

"Hey!" Shouted one of the Void Born Guard. Amhas turned to see three Void Born holding bayoneted flintlocks. "Is there any trouble afoot?" Said the group's leader. Amhas took a deep breath and releases the girl.

"No Guardsman. I was simply giving the child some words of encouragement. I shall take my leave here."

"Of course...then my men shall escort you out. We wouldn't want you get mugged by a mob of goblins now do we?" Said the guard, which irked the dignitary but Amhas kept calm.

"If you feel like it would be safer then by all means. Come Bladestorm." Calmly replied Amhas as the two Verdantkin are escorted out of the school. The Void Born looked down at the girl with glowing golden eyes.

"You ok there kid?" He said

---

"I...see?" Replied Borghild "I was actually heading to my class to prepare everything before the class started. Would you like to come with me? Maybe your hallucinations might calm down with the walk" She asks

Mikida lets out a short, squeal of pain as she is forcefully pinned to the wall. However, immediately after, Mikida appears to lose all interest in the man. Looking him in the eyes she seems to see all the way through him, "Your house must be pretty pathetic if you are are allowed to represent it. I've never thought I'd see the day where a fully grown adult threw a temper tantrum in front of me. Could you please just let me be the child in this relationship?"

Mikida only said this knowing that the guards were just about to emerge. As she had predicted, he wouldn't be stupid enough to try anything further while so severely outgunned. However, she didn't expect the pin to be as damaging as it was. In particular, her head still hurt since she didn't protect herself. Additionally, her delicate arm already had a nasty looking bruise from where she had been grabbed. Although Mikida's true body was relatively unscathed, her personal illusion was that of a child, and responded accordingly. Knowing that the guard would show concern, Mikida undersells the injury, "I'll be fine I think. My friends are probably looking for me, so I want to go see them. But, ummm." Fully utilizing her little girl cuteness attributes, "Thank you for protecting me from that man. He seemed like he was having a really bad day."

"I'm merely doing my job madam. It's what I'm being paid to do." Said the Void Born "My name's Baldred, by the way. So what's that man want with you in the first place? It's a bit strange don't you think? To be picking on someone like you."

----

"Well...if you say so." Replied Borghild. "If you feel sick then just ask one of the Void Born to take you to the infirmary then. I'd hate to see one of my students unwell."

Mikida pouts, "Hey, I'm doing my best to act cute over here. The least you could do is react." Getting over herself quickly, "But, I'm grateful regardless. Even if you are being paid, I'm still safe because of you, so just let me be grateful, kay?" Mikida leans backwards against Baldred, "But, as for why I was targeted specifically, I'm not really sure. From what I can understand, he was mad at someone for not treating him with respect, and then I sort of ignored him. I didn't realize that he'd be that way though..." Mikida turns to face Baldred with a sleepy smile, "But that probably won't help you with your job right?" Walking forward Mikida continues to address Baldred, "Baldred, do you really think it was weird that I was targeted?"
