"It is a little difficult right now with him shoving his own smell at me," Clancy said, trying to gently but firmly push the dog away. "If he is upset, please keep him in here with you while I go look around outside." He managed to push the dog to Kitty then walked out.
Sam sat protectively in front of Kitty while Clancy slowly walked around the perimeter. Something did smell... off, but he could not put his finger on it. The scent was too faint and already covered by a multitude of other animals and people. It did smell... doggish. He frowned, his own hackles up as he took another lap around the house before going inside.
"It seems to have been another dog," he said casually as he walked in and closed the door. He took care to lock it securely behind him. "It is likely nothing, but I do not wish to discount his keen senses, either. Please remain alert and keep him with you. Just in case."
