The Vampire's Apprentice

Kitty hopped up and went looking. There it happened to be, and she brought it to him, though modesty was a difficult habit to break, and it showed. That said, it was likely not as vivid as the strange rainbow of streaks on her face and elbows. At the least, she had the sensibility to wipe her hands off, but the colored stains on her skin were quite clear. The majority of it appeared to be red, giving the impression of scars, and had there not been a spot of green on her nose, it could have been believable.

"This should be good," Clancy said dryly. He took his phone and stepped into his bedroom. "I shall be out in perhaps half an hour." He closed the door and dialed a number to speak with someone while he was dressing.

Half an hour. That should be enough time. Kitty finished the last little detail she had been working on and made some effort to clean everything up, replacing the cake into the fridge. Her skin was still stained, but at least she wasn't going to stain anything else.

Promptly half an hour to the minute later, Clancy came out looking clean and put together, though more relaxed in clothing. Well, more relaxed for him. He smiled at Kitty. "Good evening, Miss Kitty. I trust you had a productive day?"

"I did indeed!" Kitty closed the kitchen cabinet and returned the grin. "The neighbors will be coming over tomorrow night at eight thirty, and there's a notepad on the table with everything else." She moved to go upstairs. "Please don't open the fridge, I'll be back in a moment."

Clancy frowned a little then shrugged it off and studied the notepad. Good. Very good. She did thorough work for this being her first time.

She almost slipped, coming down the stairs again. Kitty caught herself and continued a little more slowly back into the kitchen.

"Very well, so I see here you arranged call back times with the four people as requested," Clancy said, scanning the list. "A decent amount of time between each one, as well. Very good. The dog has an appointment, and the humans are coming over tomorrow evening at eight-thirty. That is not too late for them?"

"It was a compromise. Sunset lands around eight." Kitty, for a brief second, seemed confused to hear him say humans. It was inexplicably easy to forget that he was not one, but even still, most people would say "company" or, like she had done, "neighbors."

Humans. It almost foretold something bad. She hoped not, and shrugged it off. "I baked something, too."

"Three hours? Hmm, well, that is certainly a chunk of time," Clancy nodded. "And are you going to show me this fantastic creation of yours?"

Kitty spoke as she opened the fridge. "I started working on something else... but my imagination got the better of me and I ended up with this."

She gently set it on the table. Her hand hadn't been perfect, having not decorated a cake save one other time, nor was there too much detail, but it was very clear what she had made. Near the bottom it appeared as though she had started forming flowers and at some point had gotten carried away and created a moonlit scene of the park.

((I doodled.... Not in color, but you get the gist.))

Clancy tipped his head as he studied the scene. "Did you create a picture out of frosting? One of us sitting on a bench?" he asked, a faint smile tugging at the corner of his mouth.
