She sensed he was not currently in a good mood; it may have been subtle to anyone other, but Kitty had the advantage of having been around him for a while. However, the tentative manner she currently held towards Clancy was dulled by a suddenly brightening expression—or, at least, the appearance of an excitable glimmer in her eye—when the opportunity came to present the day's adventures. For preservation of self, she did her best not to act as thrilled as she seemed.
Kitty glanced towards the bathroom door, then back at Clancy before moving to the bedside to retrieve the small collection of photos she and Norville had taken. As the girl unearthed them, she explained: "We went to a petting zoo while we were in Ohio. Did you know, I'd never even heard of an emu! But there were some there. Oh, and baby goats," she set a few of the pictures on the bed. It was clear what she thought of the small, hard-headed creatures simply by the tone of her voice. "Such precious beans!" Kitty said, then pointed to one of the photos. "Sam made friends with that one, there."
Memories of the conversation involving stealing a goat and the vampire's possible reaction to it made her smile, though lightly, almost as if she were hoping Clancy wouldn't see it. She looked to him, wondering what his thoughts were.
