The Vampire's Apprentice

Kitty nodded silently. There wasn't anything else she thought to say, so she didn't, waiting to see if he spoke before their arrival back at the hotel room.

"Be aware of how much money is on your card as of right now, I cannot add more," Clancy said as they approached the room. "Other than that, I thinkthat is everything." He stopped at the door. "Ah, I will need one of your room keys."

She unlocked the door, then offered her key to him. There was another around somewhere, though she didn't feel like looking for it at the moment. This was easier.

"Alright...." Kitty sighed lightly, almost in reluctance. "Goodnight, Clancy. Stay safe; I do worry." She gave a light smile and went to change into her pajamas.

Clancy shook his head with a fond smile and waited for her to finish before using the bathroom to primp and preen. He had a new territory to explore, a house to find, sustenance to hunt, a fellow vampire to introduce himself to... It was going to be a busy night! He needed to look his best, but not too flashy. He grabbed his hat and gave it a little twirl before setting it on his head and sweeping out the door.

It was the middle of the night....
No, 2:47. The clock said 2:47.
Kitty lay back down. It wasn't time to get up yet....

She rolled over; the quiet sounds she made caused her to cringe, but the stillness was worse.

Kitty stared towards the window. It was a full moon tonight. Though, the moon was on the opposite horizon. She only knew because the moon had been pretty full last night.

Sitting up again, she looked to Norville. He was still asleep. Clancy didn't appear to be in the room.... It seemed oddly lonely. She thought to ask Norville if he really was sleeping, but instead decided to bury her head under the blankets and go back to bed.

Norville would probably be the first one awake the next morning. Kitty remained completely submersed underneath the covers—which was a little odd, considering she preferred to keep her head out—and completely lacking consciousness. The only movement was the occasional rise and fall of the blanket when she breathed.

Norville grumbled in his sleep and rolled over. He was not sleeping very deeply, and it would not take much to wake him up. He vaguely heard Kitty moving before falling back asleep.

The next morning, he rose just after 6:30 and stumbled his way into the bathroom where he stood under the hot shower for what felt like ages before dragging himself out. Ugh, he just wanted to crawl under a rock.

Kitty was up sometime later though wanted nothing more than to go back to sleep. So, she dug herself further under the covers and did just that.

Until the heat of her trapped breath became unbearable, at which point she became totally lost trying to find "up" on the bed. Fortunately, the edge was closer.... Unfortunately, the sheet was also tucked into the mattress, leaving her stranded in a pocket between the bed and the blanket.

Suspended somewhere amongst "heaven" and "earth," Kitty made an attempt to claw her way back onto the bed, but instead ended up pulling the blanket loose. Promptly, she was deposited on the floor, about the same time Norville returned from his shower. Good news, though: She was definitely awake.

She glanced to her tangled sheets, considering. "I dunno. Must have gotten lost and couldn't find my way out again."

"You sleep weird," Norville smirked. He found his hair brush and ran it through his hair quickly. "So... what's today? I mean, what are we doing today?"

"We could sit here and do nothing... or we could go and poke around town a bit." Kitty offered. "But first, they've got breakfast around here somewhere. You haven't eaten since the day before yesterday."

"Oh, yeah, I guess breakfast is a thing," Norville said with a slow nod. He shifted his leg. "My foot's been hurting from all the walking, but I didn't realize it until we stopped walking... if that makes sense. Maybe we could take it easy today?"

She nodded. As she was gathering some daytime clothes, Kitty asked, "What would you like to do today? After breakfast."

Norville shrugged, appearing a bit disinterested. "Um... I don't know. Find something... quiet to do? Maybe we could go down to the dock or something?"

"That sounds nice," she agreed. "Do you feel up to letting Sam outside this morning? I can meet you in the breakfast hall if you can find it."
