Daizi brought Ivy up to bed and lay her down before joining her husband and snuggling in beneath his arms. It was her turn to be the little one and he was more than happy to oblige. There they were, a full, complete, beautiful family. Forever.
"I feel like something has to go wrong now," Dark admitted quietly with his cheek against Daizi's hair.
"It won't," She promised, "It's just your head. It plays tricks on you."
"Every time things are this good..."
"Nothing is going to happen." She said, pressing herself closer against him, savouring every moment of this before they swore it off for almost an entire month, "But I'll draw our cards tomorrow, if it'll put your mind at ease."
"Spider?"
"Mmhm?"
"You already put my mind at ease. Just being with you. I am so grateful for you," He ran his fingers down her spine, "None of this, nothing in my life, would exist if it were not for you."
She smiled, burrowing her cheek against his chest, "I'm going to fall asleep right here."
"Do not do that, your back will hurt in the morning."
"It'll be okay, you'll carry me to bed."
"Yes," He whispered, "I will."
And he did, and slept peacefully beside her and woke to a brisk, clear morning. It felt like a new year. Ivy was a bit cranky, due to the disruption of her schedule the day before, and a bit more willing to drive her parents, especially her mother, ragged, but it wasn't too difficult to bare. The day before had been perfect, and this day was exactly what they needed to settle into this new, permanent state of being. The Wahid-Dark household at the Necropolis. Daizi kept murmuring it to herself, like a girl trying out her crush's surname.
After an easy, sleepy day passed by without too much fuss, they were preparing on Sunday morning for a wonderful trip to the Pumpkin Patch.
