Land Down Under (KJDarKnight & Treasure)

Justira offered a small smile, she was trying not to but that wasn't the only thing that had her worried. She hesitated before she went on "Lynna, Badru and I are going on a trip back to my old home, two days journey. I think there will be supplies left behind we can use"

They were going where? He shifted uneasily. "That sounds like a long journey. Are you sure it is safe?" he asked uneasily.

"Badru will be with us" she signed "They do not know the way so I must go, it will be safe with Badru and Lynna" she tried to assure him, she'd feel better if Gray came but knew that wasn't really an option

"I wish I could come with you, but I would be a hindrance," Gray said regretfully as if he could read her thoughts. He sighed. "You should go, yes, and I will be waiting for you when you get back. Stay close to Badru. Lynna means very well, but is easily distracted and forgets to stay with what she is guarding. Badru will stay with you while she chases."

"I will be careful and I will be safe" she promised "It is only two days there and two days back, we won't linger unless we must" she promised, she was not upset he couldn't come, she understood and wished he could was all

Gray smiled and reached out to touch her arm. Then he drew back and signed, "Four days seems like a long time after we have not been apart since we met for more than an hour here and there."

Justira smiled faintly "I know" she signed and hesitated to go on "I do not like the idea of being apart that long but it must be done if Faelar..." she stopped suddenly, if Faelar was here, he'd go and she could stay but, he was gone, she couldn't rely on him anymore, she almost forgot sometimes that he was gone

she was surprised of course that he did not hesitate to hug her, and she needed it, hugging him back. She would take the hug for as long as he was willing and able to give her one, not holding him so tight he couldn't pull away but very clearly she needed this

Gray held her for as long as he could tolerate. He was getting better and could hold for longer, but eventually he had to let her go. He looked at her and smiled gently, trying to convay what he was feeling without words.

she smiled faintly and rubbed tears that hadn't fallen but threatened to. she had been trying not to think of him too much, focusing on survival. "Thank you" she signed simply in response

she smiled a little more "I know" she spoke this time, just for him to hear. she glanced towards Lynna again "you should go talk to her now... see what is wrong. You are better friends she may talk to you"

"I will try," Gray agreed. He stood and gave her one last smile before walking toward Lynna. He didn't know if Lynna would talk to him, but he could give it a go. She usually talked to him about everything except what was actually important to her.

The next morning they woke early, having packed the night before.

Peter ran over to Badru and hugged him as high as he could reach "come home safe ok?"

Badru patted Peter's back gently. "I will. Guard the home, yes? Show Mathias our traps, too." They'd brought in two deer the evening before and had reset them in a different location in hopes of getting more. Nothing had tripped the pig trap yet, but Badru still had hope.

Gray gave Justira another hug, this one a bit shorter as he wanted to sign to her. "Stay warm. Always keep the others in sight. Do not rush, but do not get distracted, either. Keep Lynna on track," he fussed over her.

Lynna checked her pack one last time then stood waiting impatiently by the door while everyone said their goodbys. For once, she felt a bit out of place here.

Peter nodded "I will" he promised and smiled up at Badru "you'll see. We will have all londs of meat and furs when you fet back!"

Justira smiled that sweet smile of hers "I'll be alright Gray" she signed and very gently touched her hand to his cheek for a moment "I did used to love up here remember. I'll be fine"

Charlie hesitated but walked over to Lynna "be safe out there Lynna..four days is a long time"

"I know," Badru said, a hint of pride in his tone. Then he looked up from Peter and looked at Pepper for a moment. He didn't say anything, just looked at her.

I am sorry. I will try not to fuss too much," Gray said with a faint smile.

Lynna looked at Charlie, a bit surprised at Charilie's approch, but then she smiled. "I will. No worries."

Pepper shifted a little, not really sure what to say to him either. "Be safe Badru" she finally decided on and held her hand out for Peter to return to her.

She smiled faintly "It's nice to know how much you care Gray" she signed before she leaned up and brushed a soft kiss on his cheek , she glanced, the others looked ready to go

"Well, I will worry, I care about you Lynna, and well I care about all of you but...you know" he said awkwardly

Badru nodded to Pepper. "You as well," he said quietly.

Gray blushed at the kiss and smiled. "I will see you when you get back. I will wait with a hot drink for you!"

Lynna shrugged, equally awkward. "I know. Sorry. Um..." She sighed. "I am soooo bad at goodbyes. I promise to be careful and try not to get too distracted, and you'd better be here when I get back."
