Maric Vakarian - Entering the Al'vyon Estate

His personality had shifted again as he held Xena in his arms. He ignored the looks of the few people still out on the streets as the moon hovered over the sky. He slowly but surely made his way to the Al'vyon estate, eased his way through the door shutting it behind him with his foot, and carried the vampire all the way up the stairs to her bedroom. He softly laid her down on the bed before flopping down beside her. He was so out of it that he couldn't even tell if Xena was awake or not. He laid his hand on her cheek, "What a day, huh?" He said before he drifted off to a well deserved rest.

Morrigan & Shiva Strange
"Is that you, Morry?" "Of course, who else would it be?" "A drug dealer or a murderer, or I've even heard rumours of a cult." "Don't be silly." A short exchange went between the two, Shiva resting on a small bundle of rags as he blind eyes gazed up at nothingness while listening to the sounds around her, most noticeably was the rustling of a bag as the black-haired sister placed numerous stolen goods, primarily fruits and drink, on her own small make-shift bed. "You know that's wrong.." the older, pale sister scolded, turning her face towards her and watching with those absent eyes of hers. "Yeah? Tell me when you can magic up some food for us and I'll stop." Morrigan hissed back, her dark eyes filling up with rage briefly at the blind woman known as her sister, but swiftly filled with pity. "Sorry.. We can't all live good lives, and it's not like anyone's going to help us, we just have to.. Help ourselves, help eachother." She spoke softly, lying down next to the stolen goods and staring up at the sky, unable to fall asleep as a variety of thoughts floated around her mind.

Kaleo - Residential District
The brown-furred wolf padded through the Residential District, not even realizing that he was sticking to the shadows as much as he could. Eventually, he came across a pile of rubble on the ground in a nearby alley, which was high enough for him to scale and climb onto the roof. On top of the roof, Kaleo basked in the light of the moon as he walked at a leisurely pace. He inhaled the cool air deeply, finally able to clear his head after the events of the day. Fear has been too impertinent lately; its confidence disturbs me greatly... I can't just let it take me like that. Kaleo finally sat down on the edge of one of the roofs, his tail encircling him in a protective barrier. I need some fears to help combat.

Then as if on cue, Kaleo sensed the fear nearby. In fact... It was right below him. The wolf peered over the edge of the building and into the alley below. His gold eyes glimmered in the moonlight when he saw the two girls huddled below, one of them pulsing with fear, and the other one seemingly trying to keep her own under wraps. Kaleo shifted from his wolf form and back to his human form, his hair stayed the same color brown as his fur, but his eyes changed to a light brown color. With his feet dangling over the edge of the building, he reached up and touched the red "paint" on the bridge of his nose.

Perfect.

Morrigan & Shiva Strange
"Hello, what do you want." Morrigan asked spitefully, glaring up at the mysterious person with hard, angry, blue eyes, his figure difficult to see due to the darkness, but knowing he was there given that she had been looking up anyway, her heart-rate quickening at the sight of him. She stood up and stepped in front of the sleeping Shiva quickly and quietly, hoping not to wake her up. Shiva had never been good when handling tough situations, or people in general, at least around Morrigan, anyway. "If this is your.. drug-spot, or wherever, go find someplace else." The younger sister said in a threatening yet hushed tone, head tilted upwards to face their strange watcher from above. Her hands were held carefully by her sides, ready at any moment to force him into sleep so that they may flee, but hoping silently that he would not be a threat for once. Her and her sister had been through enough already, hadn't they?

Kaleo - Residential District
Kaleo tilted his head at the girl's suggestion that this was his "drug spot." Such a strange thing to assume. Anyway, let's resume. He slipped off the building and landed lightly in the alley below. Though it was a considerable height that would have probably broken the average person's legs, the fall didn't seem to affect him. Standing up straight, Kaleo simply looked at the pair curiously. I've never seen fears like yours before. Two fears entwined, you so adore... Kaleo glanced at the pale-haired girl behind the one standing in front of him. That one can't take much more. Allow me to be your mentor.

Morrigan & Shiva Strange
"Listen man, I'm not saying this twice, back off." Morrigan growled, hatred showing predominantly in her eyes. He reminded her of the assasin that blinded her sister, maybe, the same nobleman got out and hired a new assasin to kill them both over some petty grudge. Her left hand drifted up from its spot by her side, if he took a single step, she was going to force him into exhaustion and escape with Shiva. The simple plan gave her confidence, simple plans didn't go wrong often, only when they became needlessly complex was when they messed up.

Suddenly, the surrounding air seemed to become distinctly colder as small wisps of fog rose off the ground, running across Morrigan and the silent man standing before her. Damn.. "S-sister..? W-who is that...?" Shiva asked, feeling the two and knowing that they weren't alone. She sat up. Shivering slightly and gazed her sightless eyes in the direction of this strange invader. Her face filled with fear. "Please don't hurt us.. W-we just don't have anywhere else to go.. honest.." she mumbled, her lip quivering slightly.

Kaleo - Residential District
Kaleo leaned against the wall of the alley, not really in any particular rush to get this over with. His eyes flicked back and forth between them. Looks like this one's going to put up a fight. Meanwhile, the other seems to have lost her sight. I'll have to get rid of the shorter one first, but in the meantime... Kaleo's eyes suddenly lit up with amusement at the dark-haired girl's antics, but didn't make a move to approach them. Do your worst.

Morrigan & Shiva Strange
"What do you want from us?" Morrigan hissed, edging backwards towards her sister and away from the man. "Please leave.. I-I want them to leave, sister.. Make them leave." Shiva whispered quietly, it was terrifying being. Blind, she wasn't adept with her mist-controk yet and could barely tell the difference between a man and a woman, the only person she knew was Morrigan. "I'm working on it.." Morrigan responded quietly in return. "Sir, what do you want, answer, or we will be gone in a moment's notice." Morrigan demanded aggressively, sheltering her sister. She was dead tired after all the thieving she had been doing that day, and really wasn't up for a confrontation.

Kaleo - Residential District
Kaleo stood up a little straighter at the question. However, instead of answering, he simply held out his hand, palm up. He smiled softly and nodded at his hand, as if inviting her to take it. Go on...

Morrigan & Shiva Strange
"Alright, you asked for it." "D-don't worry whoever you are.. It doesn't hurt.." the sisters said together, Shiva being much quieter as her shyness kicked in as Morrigan waved her hand, causing immense amount of general tiredness to the stranger, causing their eyes to droop arms and legs to feel like lead and made it difficult to even think straight, it would be difficult for anyone to stay awake for more than a couple of seconds. Morrigan pulled her sister up, shoved her make-shift bed into her arms, grabbed her own stuff, food and all and gripped Shiva's hand, pulling her along as they ran, hoping to escape their strange predator

Kaleo - Residential District
Kaleo watched the girl in confusion as she waved her hand in the air, then he suddenly felt very tired. His arm dropped to his side again, and his eyes widened as he looked down and saw his legs buckling beneath him. What... is... His mind struggled to string words into a coherent thought. Kaleo crumpled to the ground and his eyes flickered closed.

Kaleo sat up, looking about in confusion, but his heart twisted inside him when he looked up and saw Fear there, peering down at his comatose body. The smokey figure grinned at him before it started laughing its head off. Kaleo shut his eyes tight and pulled his legs close, trying to shut it out. He was dreaming again. At least, if you could call it that. Ha! You got beat by a little girl! You really are getting weaker, aren't you, my friend? Fear started to walk away, dragging its fingers along the wall of the abandoned alley. Maybe I should take this opportunity to come out and play, since you can't seem to handle it.

Kaleo's eyes opened again. He glowered at the beast. You can't touch them.

Fear looked back at him before bursting into more laughter.
Why, because you'll protect them? What is it you say; you'll make them "immune" to me? The beast disappeared in a wisp of smoke before reappearing, sitting on the ground in front of him. I see that's working out very well for you. Lucifer knows, you've been doing a great job keeping me at bay in yourself. Fear pulled out the dagger again, twirling it in its hand before holding the point of it under Kaleo's chin. I think I recall you saying earlier that you were the master of me. Fear moved the dagger upward, forcing Kaleo to tilt his chin up. It scoffed. Pathetic.

Meanwhile, in the real world, Kaleo was still in a crumpled heap on the ground. After a few seconds of being asleep in the moonlight, he shifted to his wolf form again. As a wolf, Kaleo curled into a tight ball, the fur along his back standing on edge, reacting to the beast inside his nightmare.

As the girl drifted slowly into consciousness, she felt the wonderful fluff of the bed and the soft blankets around her. For the first time in a while, she had a nice, dreamless sleep. She felt peaceful. She opened her eyes and yawned, stretching a little, only for her feet to touch somebody else's. For a moment, she frowned wondered: Errol? But no: Errol never invaded her personal space. He would never fall asleep on her bed.

She turned her head and saw a familiar face... and smiled. Ah, that's right. I fell asleep while Maric is bringing me in here. She cuddled closer to him as she watched his sleeping face, tracing a finger on his nose, his cheek, his lips... He looks so tired. Its good that he managed to fall asleep as well. She kissed his forehead, and then his nose, and then hovered her lips over his... a small blush tinting her cheeks as she remembered the way he kissed her earlier. What are we now, really? she wondered. Lovers? But no: its probably better if she does not dwell on it for now. She nuzzled to his chest and inhaled, taking his scent in. Back when she was a human, she never realized he smelled so.. good. Was it because she is a vampire now? Possibly. It must be his blood. He smells so appealing to her even though she wasn't particularly hungry. Even though he wasn't human... she wondered why.

Maric had been dead to the world the entire night, in a state of completely dreamless sleep. However, as his subconscious registered Xena's fingers on his skin, her soft lips on his face, he smiled slightly and pulled her closer as he started to dream. It was of Xena and him, with Wroth and Bryn, even Ryuna, who he remembered was the only Harbinger they haven't gotten an update on. They were all there at a wedding of some sort. That was when he realized, it was his wedding, to Xena. Buttercup was his best man, Hi'dric was in attendance, even Jocasta had shown up. Just as they were about to kiss, the sky grew black, and from a bolt of lightning appeared Taran, with a look of death in his eyes, staring straight at Maric. That was when he woke up.

He stirred and opened his eyes to find Xena snuggled up in his arms. He smiled and kissed the top of her head. "Hey, what a beautiful sight to wake up to. Did you sleep well Xena?" He asked, a look of love in his eyes.

Morrigan & Shiva Strange
The duo ran for a few seconds in terror before looking back. What had been a strange, creepy man was now just a small brown dog. "Where did it go?" Shiva asked cautiously, noticing that the humanoid shape had disappeared and all there was left happened to be a small ball. "I.. Don't know. Just a dog." Morrigan answered. The problem with having a blind person as your sole partner was that there was no real way of checking whether something was a hallucination or not. They crept back the way they had come to the small animal, asleep. Morrigan lifted the small bundle of fur carefully. While she had an innate hatred for humanity, she held nothing against animals. "Can I pet it?" Shiva asked quietly. "Of course." Morrigan answered, holding the wolf out for the blind sister to pet. The white, almost translucent hand stretched out and softly touched the creature, flinching initially on her initial contact, but slowly gaining more confidence. A soft smile lit up her face, a rare sight these days.

She nodded as she inhaled his scent again. Intoxicating... He kissed the top of her head, looking at her like she was something precious, his eyes brimming with affection and love. Love? She smiled a bit as she studied his face, cupping his cheek. "Since when did the Sin of Lust get those eyes? The things you said to everyone caught me by surprise. Since when did you ever learn commitment?" She ran a finger against his cheek, down to his neck as her gaze settled there for a moment too long. She could feel his heartbeat underneath her finger. She licked her lips, as she looked up at his eyes again. "Yeah... I slept well." she replied suddenly, seemingly as if to distract herself. "You?"

He chuckled a bit at her questions. "I told you. When I lost my memory, I was left in a dark place, Buttercup saved me. Through him, and through my years with the Circle, I learned what it meant to have a relationship that actually means something. I've probably always loved you, but kept things so casual back in those days that I never realized it. After getting them back, my feelings for you increased tenfold, I don't ever want to leave you alone again." He looked to her, eyes full of sincerity.

He saw her eyes linger on his neck and smiled. "To answer your other question, I slept great. But I've seduced enough vampires to know that's not what you were really thinking about." He brought his neck closer to her mouth and whispered in her ear. "You can feed of me if you want. I never found out if incubus blood satisfied hunger like human blood, but I'm willing to find out." He kissed her cheek as he waited for the fangs to sink in.

Kaleo - Residential District

Kaleo stared back at Fear defiantly until he suddenly felt a tingling along his back. He looked behind himself, wide-eyed, but there was nothing there. That was when Fear started snickering. Those girls you were with earlier... They're petting you.

Kaleo rounded on Fear, his eyes blazing.
They're WHAT.

Fear gave Kaleo a mock-pouty face.
Can you blame them? I mean, you're so fluffy. Poor little puppy, all lost and alone... Fear put away the dagger with a grin before climbing to its feet. Kaleo followed suit, gritting his teeth and glaring at the monster. Get me out of here, or I swear I will kill you, Fear. The smokey figure raised an amused eyebrow. You can't kill me; we're just dreaming. Then I'll just kill you multiple times. Since it's my dream, there are no crimes.

Fear snickered again, taking a step back.
Is that supposed to be intimidating? You can't scare Fear, Kaleo; it's my invention. The beast yawned in boredom before leaning back, popping his spine. But I'll tell you what... If you let me take care of the girls, I'll wake you up. Kaleo narrowed his eyes. If I let you take control, how am I supposed to know the toll? Will you give me back my soul?

Fear's glowing white eyes seemed to brighten. I don't know. Will I?

Kaleo clenched his jaw. In the real world, his hind leg kicked.

She blushed and gulped at his statement, biting her lip as she stared at his neck once again. She wanted to... She leaned in and licked the spot on his neck, readying to let her fangs sink down on the skin, but then his voice resounded in her thoughts, as she found herself halting, a strange feeling bubbling in her heart. A feeling of uneasiness, discomfort. She felt slightly mad, although she knew there was probably nothing to be mad about, but she felt it anyways.

I've seduced enough vampires to know that's not what you were really thinking about.

"Then... did you seduce that girl as well? That woman, Jocasta?" she knew it: she felt the connection between her and Maric when they talked in the Necropolis, to the point that she had thought they might be lovers. They obviously had some history together. And she couldn't help but feel... what is this emotion, exactly? Her hand tightened on his shirt as she murmured, not meeting his eyes. "I'm..." she hesitated, as she buried her face in his neck instead. "...jealous."

His body stiffened at her question. He sighed and relaxed his body. "Yes, I did. Even during my days with Buttercup, I had no lover, so I would still seduce many women. But Xena, there's no reason to be jealous, they only captured my lust. You captured that, and so much more a long time ago." He held her close as he felt his true emotions reveal themselves to her.

"I never told you this, never told anyone, but I was so jealous of Taran. Of all the Harbingers, he was the one I despised, not because he was a narcissist like Legion or a stick in the mud like Alma, those qualities I could look past and find something appealing in them. I despised Taran, because he had captured your heart and I hadn't." His grip tightened as he felt tears come to his eyes. "We were partners, every minute I spent with you was a blessing, you were my one constant, my anchor. Then Satan took you away, and it was only by Aditi's grace that I found you again."

He looked into her eyes so she knew how serious he was. "I love you, Xena Mythriel Al'vyon. I would sacrifice my life if it meant protecting you. I want to be yours, and no one else's for the rest of my days on this world." He blushed and looked down, wondering if he said too much, maybe she didn't want this new Maric, perhaps she wanted the old, fickle Maric, he just didn't know anymore. He just prayed to Aditi that she could return his feelings.
