She blinked in surprise as the flames engulfed her arm. And yet, she did not feel the pain. She wasn't burning. Instead the sound of countless damned souls resound in her head. Men, women, children, pleading for their lives, crying, dying...

" --- must get away---"
"YOU MONSTER!"
"NOOOO! Stop---"

She let go of his neck, stepping back, and then covered her ears as the grin seeped out of her expression, replaced by a cold blank look. The sounds irritated her so much. She is so tired of this. They're dead so they should all shut up already. The nonchalance in her thoughts would have terrified her any other time, but she was, once again, too far down to care. As Legion babbled on the hollowness of her tactics, she just replied. "You may be right. But I wonder why I never stopped... ah, I know why." she smiled, sweetly. "Because it was fun, Legion." she said as she stepped towards him again. "You act so high and mighty now, but the fact that you are sealed proves you've been bested before, too." An image flashed in her head. A magic circle. A spell. A faery... Alma? Suddenly, she was more confident of her little speech. She placed her hand on her chin thoughtfully. "Hmm... I see. I sealed you inside Wroth, along with that Alma person, didn't I? To think that you've been outdone by us mere subjects... how humiliating, isn't it? Your Majesty?" her voice held contempt, drowning in a healthy dose of sarcasm.

"You talk as if you don't know me, Legion. Something tells me I've never bowed to anyone. What difference does it make now?" she placed a finger underneath his chin, titling his head up as well as Maric pulled at his hair. "Legion... enough playing around. I sincerely just wanted to regain back some order in my memories. You are right: I am hollow. I don't remember much of anything. I don't understand much of anything. I'm at an impasse, stuck between my past and present self. I don't need any more of your bullshit."

"---aHHHHH!"
"Help me! HELP ME!"
"I don't wanna die!"

Xena frowned, the screams in her head getting louder and louder, more and more irritating by the passing second. She pulled out Errol's pocketknife and played it between her fingers. "Make the voices stop, Legion." she murmured, almost too quietly.

Bryn whimpered as the pain only grew worse, she tried to focus on the conversation but only found it to be too confusing to follow. She watched as Maric gripped Wroth's hair, hearing the anger in his voice. "W-what did you d-do to them?" she stumbled out. "What d-d-did you do to me?" She wanted to be angry, to smash something, to know what in the hell was going on. Instead, she was left a whimpering, pathetic mess of a warrior as the pain coursed through her veins bringing more tears to her eyes.

Looking at the knife with a neutral expression, the monster then burst out laughing at all this it was a cold and chilling laugh. "I figured you'd want to be serenaded by the sounds of screams, I do remember you seemed to love the screams.... But then again things have changed." The fire on Xena's arms the screaming stopped, suddenly went back to Legion snaking up his legs, chest and to his hair actually burning Maric's hands the hands that held Legion's hair soon turned into boney numbs. "Also I am willing to be civil, consider it a show of respect for your final request. Though if either one of you touches me again, I will remind you why I am called the soul flayer. Oh, no Shell don't get up. I'll take care of this." Black fire wrapped around Maric's hands, it seemed as if Legion was going to take the bones as well but strangely the fire was healing Maric burning away the damage done to them. His hands looked as if they were never burned off. "And on the topic of my sealing.... Though it pains me greatly to admit it, you did best me in that area... Though only barely. In fact, I'm sure that's what made you snap or should I say what erased you? Hmmmm?" Turning his head towards Byrn the sniveling thing was a pathetic sight to see.... But as he looked on Legion's smugness soon turned into confusion it was almost hilarious to see his facial expression change so drastically, but that was soon turned into an absolutely livid expression. "M....MY. Power. INSIDE! A lowly creature... Wroth." He said the name with so much Venom. "You would go so far to give them even a 1 Percent chance of beating me!" Legion looked more insane than ever seeming to argue with himself.... or Wroth about Brynhild.

He didn't have time to process most of what Xena and Bryn said as his hand became engulfed in flames. He screamed in agonizing pain, falling to his knees as he watched his flesh burn away to nothing but bone. The pain almost made him pass out, but it subsided just as suddenly, as the flames seemed to repair his hand back to its original state. He couldn't stand, couldn't move, he just stared at his hand in shock. What the hell is this thing? He screamed inside his head.

He came to his senses in time to hear legion arguing with Wroth. "Heh, a one percent chance seems like good odds to me. At least there's one thing me and Wroth agree on, you need to die Legion." He said the words weakly, the pain of having his flesh burned off still fresh in his mind, but the words were charged with intensity. The Circle could wait, this thing needed to be destroyed as soon as possible.

Xena sighed. At least Legion was going to be civil. She was a little worried for a second when Maric's arm burned, however, but it was only momentarily as she Legion immediately fixed it. She stared at the daemon with a blank look, but burning, seething anger was present in her amber eyes. And then he started talking about his sealing and how it... erased her. She felt a little unsettled by the thought. Was that sealing spell the reason why she was left with no memories? And how does Taran's manipulation of her past comes into the picture? She was about to ask when Legion's expression turned livid. A little taken aback, she turned to look at who he's looking at, a slightly familiar girl. She must have seen her from the Town square... and it looked like she was in incredible pain. A part of her wanted to help her, but she knew her healing abilities doesn't really bode well to anything that is connected to Wroth and Legion.

"M....MY. Power. INSIDE! A lowly creature... Wroth. You would go so far to give them even a 1 Percent chance of beating me!"

Immediately, her mind kicked in, thinking of what he actually meant Wroth did that? she wondered, as she sat on one of the beds in front of Legion. She felt strangely calm. "Say, Legion... why are you doing this? You never answered me." she couldn't help but ask once again. Back when she met Legion yesterday, he had been incoherent, but he never really did give her an answer. There was no reason, he said. Just to destroy. At that time, listening to that crazy monster, she had believed him. But this version of Legion... is different. "I think you're far too intelligent to have no decent reason for your actions. I don't buy it... your blabbering self's ramblings, I mean."

Stopped arguing at Xena's question. "The reason why?" Legion looked surprised for but a moment before he started to grin again all eyes on Xena yet the flames seemed to act up more towards Maric and Bryn as if warning them not to try anything cute. "An interesting question. I guess you could say that I had no choice in the matter, as loathed as I am to admit. The whispers started around 470 years ago." Randomly saying the last bit. "It started when me and Wroth decimated the city of Nirvana, and their pathetic kings Indra and Angi! I must say that was possibly the best time we had! So challenging and dare I say it. Risky! I had never known such elation until I burned the city off the map....... Then the whisper came. Speaking to me, it was so beautiful the whispers of our mother. Nemesis." For a second Legion didn't seem like a psychotic monster but an excited kid. "....... At least I thought that my mother, no. That bastard pulled the wool over my eyes! How could I have fallen for such a cheap trick!?" Talking to himself more now then Xena. "He found out my plans to kill him! And slowly whittled my sanity down to the point I was a mindless lap dog like that fox Bitch! One night. I. I. I. I just snapped." Looking at Xena with a psychotic grin. "I lost my sanity so badly attacked you and tried to kill you! No! Not just kill! Erase you! We had all fulfilled our purpose! So why keep you!?......... I even tried to kill my own brother..." He actually sounded melancholy about that. But then he started to howl with laughter black Ichor dripping from his eyes as if he was crying. "And I still fucking want you all DESTROYED!! I can't fight this urge!! I need to erase you! DESTROY YOU!!" The mad howls continued for awhile. But then they just suddenly stopped as Legion looked back at Xena with an emotionless face. "Does that answer it?"

Just as Bryn couldn't handle anymore of the pain, something had seemed to change within her whimpering. Flashes ripped across her brain as scenes played out in her mind but just as soon as the flashes started they vanished. He opened her eyes and looked at Xena, Maric, then at Legion. Though there weren't many flashes, or memories, that were given to her, she knew who these three were, though she didn't know who the person was that were in her flashes, interacting with the others. She then turned her gaze to Legion, glaring. "What are you doing to me? What are these memories? Why am I remembering who they are?" she all but yelled at Legion, rising from her position, waving her hand to Xena and Maric. "I haven't met them before today!"

Maric Vakarian - Sanctuary

Legion's rambling made no sense. Maric could spot the loopholes in his reason for wanting to destroy them and was about to call him out on it, when suddenly he felt an emptiness. The angel, Raziel, Sloth, Maric could feel the life of the angel leave this world. In that moment he felt his connection to the angel switch over to the woman who sat beside Legion. She knew him, she knew Xena, even though this was the first time they'd ever met. He didn't even know her name and yet it came to him as if he'd always known it, Brynhild.

He looked to her. "You... you're not supposed to be sloth. The Angel, Raziel, he just died... and his power went to you." A smile came to his face, he started laughing. To the others around him, he might have appeared mad, but for him, everything became crystal clear. "Legion... you've truly lost your mind if you think destroying us is going to matter. As Bryn here just demonstrated, when we die, our powers and our memories... they just find a new host! Your mission is pointless! And even if you succeed in destroying everyone but yourself, what then? You're just a puppet that fulfilled its purpose, and when you die, because you will die, your essence and your memories will just be passed onto the next puppet."

He sauntered over to the bed Xena was at, his smile extending from ear to ear as the answers came to him. "Your plan... it's pointless. Your existence is pointless. At least whoever brought us all together valued us enough to keep us alive after we sealed you up. But he didn't give a damn about you. So why should the rest of us?"

Xena gasped. She held her chest as she stared at the ground, wide-eyed. Someone... died. Who? An image appeared in her mind's eye. An angel... Raziel... Sin of Sloth. And the next thing she knew she was staring at the girl. Brynhild, that was what her name was. She seemed to be freaking out. Poor girl. She didn't know what she got herself into. As Maric laughed, Xena could not help but see the sense in his words. It will only be our current selves that will perish. The sins of the world will thrive. That's what being a harbinger truly means, right? A harbinger... her eyes widened. Where had that thought come from? But she suddenly understood. Everything suddenly made sense. A lot of things had been blurry, a lot of things are still unknown, but she understood a single fact in her mind, the moment she felt this strange transfer of power from this angel to the girl beside Wroth. I was a harbinger. The Sin of Pride. Then... everyone here is...

When Maric sat beside her, she couldn't help but reach for his hand. She intertwined his fingers with her own, as she stared at Legion's madness, suddenly feeling, for some reason, a sadness in her heart. Her thoughts had been flowing, some too fast to make sense of. Legion never got along with the others. An image. A tower, herself, pestering a white haired angel... Legion never liked anyone but himself. But he loved Wroth. He treasured his brother...

Something isn't right.

"Does that answer it?"

Xena gave the daemon a small, rather smug smile. Despite seeing these inconsistencies, she kept her thoughts to herself. At least for now. "Yeah it does. It further proves that you are nothing but a slave to your desires. Or are they really yours, Legion? Your mission does not have a point. You are... worthless." Her eyes narrowed as she said that one word, tilting her head defiantly at him. "You may go, Legion. We don't need you anymore. Thank you for talking with us. This conversation has been... enlightening."

Brynhild didn't know what was going on but she understood at the same time. "Raziel." she muttered. She sat back down with a flat expression. "Please leave, Legion." she said with an exhausted sigh. "How did I get mixed into this shit?" she leaned back and just stared up, her eye focusing on nothing. She wondered what her father would think of the sudden twist that happened...but it didn't matter. Nothing mattered anymore. The thing she may have slightly cared for is the sudden connection she had with these known strangers but if they wanted nothing to do with her, it would be no different from anything else that happened. To top it off she had some of fucking Legion's power inside of her by what Legion was yelling. What a fucking shitstorm but things happened and she'll just have to deal with it.

Why should she care?

Was actually surprised again today by this development but didn't show it on his face. Raziel has perished and his successor was in front of him all the while Maric actually said something almost intelligent… Almost. The fool doesn’t remember everything yet though his deduction and reasoning was sound at face value. A mischievous smile started to spread across Legion’s face as he walked back to his throne looking back on. “Bravo. Bravo Maric and shell.” Slowly clapping. “You’ve proven to me that even fools can have their moments of clarity… Though you clearly don’t fully remember everything. If you did then you would have known that our former employer took care of that little inconvenience…..” Seems to actually grumble at the thought of that piece of shit, Legion hated to admit it but he really did think of every possibility.

“My Body when I went on a rampage mutated. From his influences, he twisted and turned not only my mind and spirit…. But also abilities." Flames from the walls started to form chains, each one linked to a different humanoid like figure that Legion had also made. "Normally what you said is true, when a Harbinger dies their sin, memories, and abilities transfer to another puppet." The flame of the figure disappears and a female figure takes its place. "However. When you die by my hands... Nothing. not even the chain remains." A figure of Legion appears with a sword of flame, grabbing the female figure and cutting her head off. The act seemed to do nothing to the chain but as it went off the figure turned to the chain opening his mouth unnaturally wide absorbing the chain until there was nothing left and it repeated on and on and on. "He made me the finisher, the destroyer of the Harbingers When you die by my hand.... Nothing. Just like you were in life you shall be in death."

The fire started to subside and the light of day was visible again. "Even if you were right, I couldn't help it. What your talking to right now is the last of my consciousness that will be able to talk and reason. When I'm unleashed, you all will face pure bloodlust and animal brutality.....Kill me...." That last line might have caught everyone off guard shaking his head as if trying to regain his bearings laughing a little as he stopped. "That was interesting! Where on earth did that come from?..... What?" Talking to himself again. "You want to come out? Well if you wanted everyone to die sooner why not just let me out now....... Ok. It might interest you all to know that Wroth... The real Wroth wants to talk with you right now." Legion just rolled his eyes but in a playful way. "See you all real soon....." The head went limp again as it looked as if Wroth wasn't going to move, it was then his eyes opened up again. Not black voids but white golden light shined through. "XENA, MARIC!!" He rushed at both bringing them both into a spine crushing embrace. "It's nice to see you after so long!... Well I have seen you but I was... Am still not going to remember this later and.... Fuck it." Hugs them both tightly with a big goofy grin.

Maric Vakarian - Sanctuary

Maric felt Xena's hand reaching for his and he took it gladly, intertwining the fingers and giving a little squeeze for comfort. Everything was starting to rush back like a tidal wave. Specific memories were still distant, but what he was, the sin of lust, and what their purpose was, it was becoming clearer the longer Legion went on. The ramblings only made Maric more determined to kill legion before he's set free. Kill me. His anger towards him subsided in that one instant, the memory of him and Legion's angel form intertwined flashed in his memory again, and he felt sorrow. He'd cared for this being a long time ago, to see him reduced to this, it hurt.

When Wroth came back to the present, he rushed forward and wrenched both him and Xena up into a hug, wrenching their still clasped hands apart from each other as well. The big man obviously was as strong as ever as Maric felt the bones in his spine being bent. "Wroth.. you wont be able to see us again at all if you crush our spines!"

Xena laughed at Maric's comment, but she could feel some tears of happiness brim her eyes as she hugged back, nuzzling against Wroth's embrace. She was glad that was over. She was glad that Wroth's feelings for them hasn't changed. She had been worried that spending years with a monster inside his head might have made him bitter towards her who let him suffer this fate. "Don't worry, Maric. I can fix it." she said as she laughed, her hands tightening on Wroth's body. She could feel a piece of Taran's soul inside her, his wishes... and now her own. She closed her eyes and a tear fell to her cheeks. The harbingers... her family. "I will fix it." she murmured, a promise. "I will fix... everything."

Brynhild watched the three as she relaxed with Legion now being gone. She did wonder what was going to happen from here. Standing, she grabbed her sword and placed, she on the floor using it as a crush to move towards the three. She felt drained, but smiled at the display of friendship the three seemed to share. "Well, I.. um..guess I'm Sloth now." she said, repeating Maric's earlier words.

Laughing joyfully as he brought them both closer to his face. "Hey, after spending time keeping my only brother hostage in my body you'd forget your own strength too." looked over at Xena his golden white eyes opening in shock. "And you're not covering in blood or dissecting anyone?! My hell must have finally frozen over!" Bursting out laughing as he messed up her hair with his hand. Finally letting the two go almost abruptly he walked over to Brynhild and took a softer tone. "We'll talk about Legion's powers, I'm not going to say sorry since what's done it done but I will say, don't worry. Your hanging with the best now, so maybe after this we can all go out have some laughs, get drunk, and have a big ol foursome at Xena's place." Smacking Bryn's rump as he said that, not hard but playful. "You'd be up for that right Maric?" saying with a big laugh he felt so good right now, even if his time limit was short it was worth it to see his friends again.

As Wroth finally let him go, his hand instinctually sought Xena's again, interlacing his fingers with hers as he gave the group a warm smile. He blushed at Wroth's comment of a foursome at Xena's place. "Easy there, big guy. I may still be a shameless flirt but I have learned the meaning of commitment, believe it or not." He said looking to Xena again. He was done fooling around with other women. He'd only be with Xena, no one else.

Looking over at Bryn, he couldn't help but feel sorry for the girl. He gave her a sympathetic smile. "Sorry you had to get caught up in this mess. I can't promise we'll get you all the answers, since we're still trying to remember them ourselves, but we'll do what we can." He said sincerely.

Wroth seemed happy, so lively, and that made her snile as well. "You're not covering in blood or dissecting anyone?! My hell must have finally frozen over!" he said as he messed her hair, and despite the implication of the remark, she could not help but chuckle a little. She had never thought she'd ever laugh at the thought of being covered in other people's blood or worse, and yet she was. Her past self was so different from her present one, but she can feel them slowly merging. Experiences mold people after all, there was no way her experience as an overly-emphatic, good-natured healer will disappear just like that. And yet, it will also not remove the demons of her past. She could only wonder, what twisted her past self this way? What was her goals? What was her motivations? People can change in a heartbeat, huh. she thought to herself.

What didn't change however, was her usual, slightly scandalized reaction when Wroth mention mentioned foursomes. Blood rushed to her cheeks at the thought as she fanned her face slightly. "F-Foursome? Don't fool around, I'm not agreeing to this--" she was saved from her piece by Maric's response, about commitment and whatnot, as he looked over to her, making his implication clear. If it was any possible, she probably blushed harder. Maric was Lust. He never committed to anybody. He's probably bedded more girls than he could count, and even back in the day, something tells her their past flings were purely physical with no strings attached. And yet... he just said... she bit her lower lip to keep herself from making a small goofy smile.

When the attention was brought to Bryn, Xena let go of Maric's hand to walk over to the girl, smiling a little sadly as she held her hands eagerly. "It was a shame that Raziel has left us." Raziel... he was probably the only harbinger she didn't really get along much with. "To be honest though, I think you might even know more than we do at this point. That's why... I'll be hoping you could help get us back to our feet, Brynhild. In return, we'll help you make sense of everything. The first few days of holding the title is always a little disorienting. "

Brynhild gave a surprised yelp when Wroth smacked her bum blushing at the mention of a foursome before turning her attention to the words of Maric and Xena. Giving a nod, she said. "I will be willing to help the best I can." she shared a small smile with Xena. Her old purpose in life was replaced by the importance these people held to her. Yeah, she still wanted to find her father and brother but Xena, Maric, and Wroth held more significance in her mind than that.

Laughing enjoying this bit of tomfoolery. "Ah.......... Ok." Sitting down on one of the beds his expression changing to a more urgent one. "Have to admit I didn't ask Legion to let me out just for this small reunion... I'm losing control of him more and more, I can barely keep him from possessing this body." holding up three fingers to the group. "This is all the time we have left. 3 days. Maybe 4 if we're lucky." Wroth traced something in the air his finger swift but also precise and graceful. A symbol appeared when he was done, the symbol started to glow with power seeming to absorb the magic in the air in order to form matter. A pen and paper. "Damn! It feels good to use magic again." He chuckled lightly as he started to write something down at an insane speed. "I can't stay long I need to go back. Just make the me that doesn't remember reads this." After it looked as if he was done writing he turn his attention to Bryn and smiled. "Hey, who knows maybe after all this. I'll learn what it means to commit to a relationship? Anyway. Wroth out." Hit body went limp again, forgetting to tell Maric about Buttercup and how much danger he is in.

Maric Vakarian - Sanctuary

As Wroth went limp, Maric took the paper out of his hands. "Will do. It was nice to see you again Wroth." He said, sadness evident in his voice. It felt as if he was saying a last goodbye to a family member he loved but hadn't been able to see in years. He moved over to the two ladies while they waited for Wroth to wake up. "Three days, maybe four. Not a lot of time, and if what Legion said is true and him killing us will erase our purpose and memories as well as our lives, then as much as it pains me to say it, Legion needs to die. I'm not letting him erase any of us." He said, his face filled with determination.
