How Green Becomes Wood

"Obviously, I am the superior specimen, and I was born first," Xander replied.

Alec flailed a little, trying to reach Xander. "Hey! You are not superior! You couldn't even get a sock away from me!"

"That's because I was trying to be nice and not hurt you," Xander pointed out. "I still haven't gotten it back, and I don't really need it because I have a bunch of black socks, but here I am." He reached around Alec's grasping hands and got in a good tickle on his sides, making him squeal.

"Hey, technically we don't know if that's true," Daizi laughed, "You just guess it is."

"It is up to you to take it. Unless Daizi can." Dark replied, bracing when Alec squirmed after being tickled.

"I am not touching that sock, I do not know where it has been," Daizi laughed, "You know, this is an excellent interrogation tactic. Is there any pressing mystery you want the truth about?"

"It is totally true, and you know where that sock has been. On my foot," Xander stated. He smirked at Alec and started lightly poking him in the ribs. "This is a good tactic."

"Stop it!" Alec squealed, laughing as he wiggled and squirmed in Dark's hold. "I don't know any secrets!"

"That's okay. I'm good with this arangement," Xander said with satisfaction, poking the other side.

"And we do not know where your foot has been," Dark replied.

"Are you sure?" Daizi asked, getting up and walking over to them, "No toy which mysteriously broke in childhood? No missing t-shirt? No food which disappeared from the cupboard? Nothing you have been denying involvement in?"

"From Alec?" Dark asked, curling him one last time, trying to think of anything, but none of the questions he had were suitable to be tortured out of him.

Daizi really tried to think of something and then sighed in exasperation, "We have this one chance and we have no information to get out of him! It's not close enough to a holiday or a birthday to even force him to tell us what gift he bought!"

"Hear that? You can put me now!" Alec protested, reaching out toward Dark. He managed to grip the front of Dark's shirt, his hold tenuous at best thanks to the awkward position he was in.

"Mama, maybe you should give it a try," Xander encouraged her.

"Maybe I should just be grateful that Ivy isn't old enough to join in," Alec grumbled.

"Give what a try? Torture or being tortured?" Daizi asked, stopping herself from making a joke which would reveal too many details the twins would request a lobotomy after hearing. Still, she stepped closer and found his head first before finding the right place to tickle him, grinning like a fox, "Have you ever snuck extra dessert?" She asked, not really because she thought Alec had, or because she'd care if he had, but because they needed something to use in this scenario.

Alec's squeals renewed, and the thrashed. "Yes! I once took two cookies instead of one!" He giggled hysterically.

"And the truth comes out!" Xander said dramatically. "But he is turning pretty red, so maybe you should turn him upright."

"I was about to before you encouraged Daizi to participate," Dark replied, walking to the couch and carefully setting Alec down instead of risking setting him on the floor in the wrong way. Looking down at him, he asked, "Are you okay?"
